This is more like it. Not had much of a look in at Everton but was a regular in Germany last year. A position we desperately need to strengthen and a great age at 23. A regular at all age groups with England youth so a good pedigree and showed hunger for games and development by going on loan to a foreign country last year at a young age.
Obviously would depend on how much Everton are looking for as he's under contract until 2022, but his wages shouldn't be an issue

Very good one, that! Hope this is the type of signing we're looking at.

We certainly need a younger right back, but can't say I've seen much of him. Anybody seen enough of him to suggest he's good enough for us?

That isn’t just a bloke on Twitter. He’s got very good links with all the ROI players and believe he was the first to break the story of us signing Brady. If he’s saying we’re showing an interest then I’m sure we are.

Yes, think I remember him posting about Hendrick before. I would imagine we're interested in loads of players but whether enough to make a bid is anyone's guess. Seems he scored/played regularly last season but hasn't much this year, is he injured/out of favour?

Yes he really knows his stuff about Irish players. Pretty much every transfer relating to them he gets right

Is Jason Knight any good?

I guess it’s pretty difficult to tell, only played 40 professional games but looks to have had a decent breakthrough season last year.

He's currently on 16k a week at Everton

That's a Nixon one from a couple of weeks ago - he linked us with him and Lewis O'Brien from Huddersfield who we'd been linked with last summer.

We were linked with Kenny in summer 2019 but he went to Schalke 04 on loan for the season. Now back at Everton.

Honestly a bit disappointed if he’s the RB we are going after. Watched a fair bit of shalke last season especially when German football was first to return. I know they have been awful as club for nearly two seasons now but he is not an improvement on what we already have.
Was kind of hoping for someone with a decent cross and bit of pace.

Would certainly like to think we'll be seeing likes of Kenny and Knight arriving, rather than more in the mould of Lennon and Crouch et al.
I was always interested to know if we were after those experienced types because of a lack of funds for transfer fees (although wages were still heavy), or because Dyche simply preferred to add the "good old pros" to his squad, to coin the phrase often used. I guess we'll find out over the next two windows.

Ignoring possible changes in style or play, it’ll be really interesting to see if there is much of a change to our player profiles, if money for transfers becomes a little more forthcoming.

Thinking about young players that we've been linked with in the recent past - Andrew Robertson, James Madison & Kalvin Philips come to mind, where the deals fell through - I've every confidence in SD's ability to spot a young player.

Sorry DCW - probably didn't express myself as well as I should.
I should have said I've every confidence the player profile will improve (i.e. younger, better players) 'cos the players we've been linked with, examples given, are younger and have proved to be better than what we had, in my view.

Mail link to Kenny:
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footb ... Kenny.html
Can’t say I’ve seen much of him. I was quite keen on that Joakim Maehle that’s gone to Atalanta, but think SD seems to have a great eye for full backs so will trust his judgement if we’re in for him.

Everton have apparently set the price for Jonjoe kenny of 7 million, that's Burnley going in with the first offer of 4 million, then 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 ect

Sounds about the right range for us and a fair price for someone with a season of Bundesliga under their belts. Hopefully very much performance-related and in instalments though.

Seems a fair and reasonable price in this climate.
I have been translating some Schalke fans opinions on a YouTube video of his Schalke highlights last season and they absolutely loved him ("Best right defender we have had in years, it's a shame we cannot keep these players" was one quote).

He's been compared to Baines (on the other side, obviously) - £7 million for anything like Baines would be a superb buy.

Which sort of begs the question, why has he not forced something of a regular place at Everton?

I think that's just football. Players can be quality, but their club doesn't see it. Only done a bit of reading up, but he was in the England under 21's, so must have been decent a few years ago. You then look at the players we've bought in the past - I don't think we can read too much into the fact that Everton aren't playing him.

Kenny would be a great signing for that price. A back four consisting of Kenny, Tarks, Mee, and Taylor is a very strong one potentially.

The bits I’ve read on the Everton forums are mainly negative. It reads as though plenty want him to do well, being a kid coming up through their youth, but the consensus being that he’s not PL standard.
It’s amazing just how many England U21 players turn out to have very modest careers in the lower divisions, but this isn’t to say that Kenny will be one of those.
If Dyche / the team has seen something in him, hopefully he might prove to be an astute signing, if it happens. Presumably one who would be bedded in slowly over a year or so.
I’ve not seen him to pass judgement

C'mon Mr Pace, make a statement signing, not a guy who has four substitute appearances to his name this season.
A young lad called Kieran Trippier would be a good start and would cement you in the fans hearts.

If you think Trippier will be joining for around 20m ignoring the fact he would be banned the minute he arrives for 10 weeks I think you will be disappointed by the end of this window

But to be fair, we signed players like Heaton who was about to be relegated to League One. Villa fans knocked Westwood.
This is how football works - teams buy players from another team who doesn't see as being good enough.

I can't believe people still think we have a chance of signing Trippier. He's playing regularly for one of the best club sides in Europe and has been linked with United.

Or team buys up and coming player who is well thought of, but has significant competition ahead of them (Trippier, Mee) or up and coming players that are well through of (Taylor, Tarkowski, Keane).
I’m in no way saying he can’t or won’t be good enough, just questioning why he’s struggling to make an impact in a team with limited RB options.

I really don’t see what Kenny would offer us. Played in arguably the worst bundesliga team of the last decade (won one game in the last 12 months) and he was bang average.
I watched him a few times last season and he’s not better than either RB we currently have. These are the players that have played RB ahead of Kenny this season, Coleman, Godfrey, Davies, Iwobi, holgate and Mina.
For the figures being touted I would much prefer we went for someone like Connor Robert’s or Esteves in the league below

If you think Trippier will be joining for around 20m ignoring the fact he would be banned the minute he arrives for 10 weeks I think you will be disappointed by the end of this window
It was a tongue in cheek remark but at the moment Tripps is not banned, pending an appeal. Anyway, how long do you think the lad from Everton will take to get fit? Apparently he's only played 77 minutes this season.

How was he playing in the worst Bundesliga team of the last decade when they finished 12th out of 18 teams? He hasn't been there this season when they have been appalling from what I gathered.

Is bang average below average or just average ? Never understood the point of that phrase I take it that it is a cool put down for something they disagree with.
New owners and new approach to signings met quickly with a negative response.
