How was he playing in the worst Bundesliga team of the last decade when they finished 12th out of 18 teams? He hasn't been there this season when they have been appalling from what I gathered.
They started last season well then went on a run of no wins in 44 games spanning from November 2019 to January 2021. They recently broke that bad run on Saturday just gone.

That run over 14 months is one of the worst in bundesliga history.

Is bang average below average or just average ? Never understood the point of that phrase I take it that it is a cool put down for something they disagree with.

New owners and new approach to signings met quickly with a negative response.
Not a negative response to the approach at all. I think signing young players is the way forward I just think this particular signing is poor to say the least.

As I have already highlighted he is currently 7th choice RB at Everton with Ancelotti preferring a CM playing there ahead of Kenny.

There is better out there in my opinion for similar value. This signing reminds me of solanke and Brewster, decent price and pedigree but hasn’t performed at the top level.

What price would you expect someone of a similar age who is proven at this level to cost ?

I get that it would be difficult for him to oust Coleman but when Seamus was injured they covered the position with another one of the centre backs rather than Kenny

Says a lot for his standing with Ancelloti in which case £7m is a bit steep

Since Kenny is not proven at this level at all.
I would suggest Connor Robert’s from Swansea would be available for between 5-10m given he is in the last year of his contract.

Esteves at reading is 18 years old but looks very promising, he looks destined for the premier league. Would say 5-10m if we were to buy him this window.

Scott Arfield had been released by a bottom half Championship side when we signed him. Likewise Westwood was regarded as a bit of a joke by a lot of Villa fans. I wouldn't be upset with signing Kenny at all. At 23 he's a good age as well.

Esteves is on loan from Porto.
Roberts is 25 and has played 4 games in the Premier league.
Kenny is 23 and has played 35 premier league games and a full season in the Bundesliga.

Saying that he is not proven at this level and then naming 2 players who are even less proven at this level as a way of knocking him doesn't really make sense.

Don't know much about Kenny but he's only 23, and looks fast, energetic and aggressive from youtube clips. If we can get him in a decent deal then I'd be happy to give him the break he perhaps needs.

Speaking to Everton fans I know. They're less than convinced with Iwobi at full back. They suggest it's more down to Kenny doesn't fit the style/type that Ancelotti wants from his full-back rather than him being a bad player.
Some players just fit managers plans or style of play. Some don't. The Everton fans I know reckon he'd do well in our disciplined defensive set up.

So which part of picking up players who are under the radar do people not get? Michael Keane got loads of grief at Utd before joining us and he worked out ok. If the new owners do anything that vaguely resembles moneyball people on here are going to have to get used to underwhelming signings.

He's also been prepared to get off his backside and broaden his horizons by going on loan to a foreign country, having a decent degree of success. Says a lot about the lads character.

I think if the board was faced with £7m for a 23yr Kenny or £20m for a 30yr Trippier, we all know which they would prefer.

You clearly said name some players that are proven at Kenny’s level. Kenny is not proven premier league player. I’m just giving my opinion I have seen him play a few times and he did not impress at all. I think there is better out there and I have named two I would prefer we went after.

Not once did I say at Kenny's level. When words are there in front of you there isn't much point making things up.

I would prefer to pay £7 million for a player than pay £20 million for Trippier and give him another £20 million over three years, economically Trippier doesn't make sense.

It will also tilt the dressing room with one player on a much bigger wage.

Was just about to post similar.
Moneyball = Buy 'em cheap, develop them & move 'em on for a profit. All the while keeping Premier league status and building the Brand.

Would be a good signing, for me. The right age and, while I've not seen lots of his games, I've seen enough to suggest he has the drive and dynamism we need on that flank. Certainly be happy if we got this one over the line.

An Everton friend of mine says “He’s a decent player, just never really had the chance at Everton because of Coleman. He has a bit of pace with great energy. He did well at Schalke. 5 million will be a decent price!”

Surprised at this one. Surely we need to strengthen in other places like a winger, midfield and attack before we even consider a RB. Lowton and Bardsley are capable enough to see us through this season and even the next one.

I think the reason we haven’t signed anyone yet, is that Alan Pace reads this board.

Any every name that gets put forward, somebody always has a reason for why he is crap and wouldn’t suit Burnley.

Not sure he could be described as a "Premier League full back" - that, to me, sounds like a regular starter

4 apps this season, sent out on loan last season and 10 apps two years ago and, as you say, "Everton want rid"

Happy to see him sign but let's not bull him up just yet - £5m sounds ok

Having said that, look how much Liverpool were asking for Wilson - there must be something in the Mersey air ;)

Spoke to an Everton fan today.

- Good young full back and probably is kept out of Everton because of the style of play - not great at getting forward although he has pace and can run the wing, not always great final product. He can defend though and likes to get a tackle/block in.

Sounded right up our street ha ha.

Our scouting is so stat motivated by now you'd trust that he ticks all the right boxes if we sign him. He may not have played in the premier league but all the u23 and Bundesliga games he's played will give a good idea of the levels required. If anyone has watched Bundesliga the league tends to be very fast paced and high tempo, probably the best league you can get experience playing right now for a soon to be premier league player.

We know the kind of stats and fitness that will make a premier league player and we have Lowton and Bardsley to compare that too so I think it we go for him then chances are he'll be great.

The only thing that I worry about is the new 20 seems to be changing to 23. But probably if he was 20 we'd stand no chance in getting him.

I thought Alan pace had specifically said that the club hasn’t adopted this stat based recruitment policy and won’t do for some time?

Absolutely, this ^^^^^^^

Back in October, I wildly suggested on Twitter that Gylfi Siggurdsson would be a brilliant signing for us if he wasn’t going to play many games for Everton and LOADS of Everton fans came back and said “you can have him!”, “I’ll drive him there myself” and incredibly “He’s the worst player in the entire history of Everton Football Club”. Huge ideas of grandeur.

Don’t think Everton fans had much positive to say about Keane when he had a slump in form too ?
If I remember rightly Kenny had a bit of a run of games under Allardyce. But profile-wise someone whose not quite good enough to dislodge players of £35m cost (Iwobi) should hardly bring written off. I agree with the comment above that his season in Bundesliga shows plenty about his character. Tripps wasn’t the complete article when he came to the Turf either but he was by the time he left.

The club has been using stats a lot in its recruitment even before the takeover. I think Pace was alluding to the money-ball recruitment policy, rather than using a players stats to determine whether they can even be considered as a potential candidate.

When players are towards the end of their contract or out of contract and the headline fee is therefore low or there is nothing at all, this does not necessarily mean they are cheaper to buy than an identical player who is still under contract. Reason being that the player (via their agent) will try to grab the fee that would otherwise have been used to buy out their contract in the form of a signing on bonus or higher wages.

He would be a brilliant signing for us. I get the impression that he would rather be the main man at a smaller club rather than one of many stars at a bigger club, he would suit us down to the ground.

Nearly half way through the month and not a single new signing in sight, could this be deja-vu. Just all hear say , getting quite familiar.

In terms of value for money he probably is one of the worst players they’ve had.

I did mention that I "wildly suggested" it.... The reason I suggested it is because Everton signed others for his preferred position (centre mid/no 10) and logically they couldn't all play (Delph also in the same category) so there would be some who might become available. Indeed Sigurdsson didn't start the season in the team.

I'm not suggesting we can get him, just saying he would be a brilliant signing. Lets face it, we have no idea anymore who is or isn't in our price bracket so with Siggurdson not getting much game time, maybe we are a safe bet for him to reignite his PL career.
