January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Would have been nice to have some additions in place for the games in January which do matter when we are in such a precarious position.

Why so long-are they waiting for prices to drop ? We have had since May to locate good players fitting our cost criteria, to add to our very depleted squad. What happens if Mee or Tarks get injured again
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I'm sure someone reported dyche was happy with his squad at present, if so I think that tells you it's own story
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Isn't this the same squad he was unhappy with back during Project Restart? Minus Stephens.

Once again it looks as though we are "well off the pace" when it comes to the transfer window.
Perhaps being happy with a squad that has scored just 9 goals tells an even bigger story?

Business done early in a transfer window, tends to mean paying the asking price! And that’s not our M O

Embarrassing if true and ultimately we all know it will be the usual excuses come the end of the window. We are crying out for new blood and some youth and if we get nothing over the line then it's disgusting.

Perhaps a season or two in the Championship will convince them that the M.O. being employed didn't really bear any fruit.

Perhaps the new board are drawing on the expertise of the 2 old guard directors as they navigate their first ever transfer window

5 signings across the whole of the league... let’s have some perspective.

Plenty of time left. As above hardly any signings so far in the Premier League. Be surprised if the new board didn’t want to make a bit of a statement this window.

Jason Knight is having a great game against Bournemouth tonight.
Interestingly he’s playing out wide. Kind of reminds me of Defour with his passing and dribbling

We can’t do business early in the window... agents advise their players not to sign for us until the last minute because other clubs may come in and offer more. The player gets more, the agent gets more.
We don’t deliberately wait until the last few hours... it’s not in our hands. Well, not unless we allow ourselves to be bent over silly.

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Surely by now people have grasped that it isn’t easy to sign players early in transfer windows. If we want to sign good players we have to accept that other clubs will also be interested in these players. The selling club and the players will be aware of this and will know that they both have the best chance of a good deal by waiting until the later stages of the window. This situation is obviously different for the market leaders, which we’re not.

He had a great first half but Derby have got nearly everyone behind the ball now.

Derby looking dangerous on the break still. Seems to be a few poor pitches round at the moment like at Ewood!Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 7:31 pmYea really surprised to see how poor the pitch is.

It’s almost as if the default we are poor excuse is ready to trot out at every opportunity.
A bit like the manager I think he actually likes being a bit short on the playing side so he has an excuse up his sleeve for when he fails.

I love Sean Dyche like the rest of us but seriously some people on here defend him no matter what like he's exempt from criticism. I could be employee of the month 5 times in a row but in the 6th month it doesn't mean I'm exempt from criticism if I make bad decisions
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Absolutely.PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 7:11 pm5 signings across the whole of the league... let’s have some perspective.
There’s no domino effect. Clubs are being cautious because there is no movement yet. Nobody wants to lose a player, and not be able to get a replacement in.
I’m sure things will loosen up towards the end of the window. No drama.

Clubs don't even know in what form they can offer a season ticket for 21/22.
No surprise there's very little money being thrown around.

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I'm not having that argument for players like snodgrass and others. Not only that when we have waited we've ended up with crouch like signings who was hardly in demand. I would love to be proved wrong this time fellow clarets but im struggling to be optimistic given the last 5 or 6 windows
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Didn't watch the Derby game tonight (too busy peeping from behind the sofa to watch WHU v WBA)
Notice people saying he played wide but I believe his main position is cm
Don't really see the point of going all out to sign him in this window when he is never going to get into the side
If money is still relatively tight then WR has to be our prime position to recruit, and with a starter not a squad player
If the only player we sign is Knight that cannot be described as a good window

If I’m honest from what I have seen on the 3 occasions he is better than Brownhill already plus he is only 19 and arguably could do on a job out wide for us.jojomk1 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 8:10 pmDidn't watch the Derby game tonight (too busy peeping from behind the sofa to watch WHU v WBA)

Watched the Derby game and thought he was average at best
Nowhere near our first team yet but may be one for the future as he is young and will improve.
Had a shot which was miles wide and was easily knocked off yhe ball

Think the big thing to come out of the Derby game was the fact that the Middle East consortium appear to have backed out. Looks like there will be a fire sale there in the next 10 days

Same old story mate,it clearly looks like nothing has changed as this window slowly ebbs away, hasnt Pace already said staying in this division isnt important...looks like he might be presiding over life in a new division next season and not really be that bothered
