I don't believe this Board will not deliver. Not a chance.
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I can't see how Nixon has any clue how much money the new board has allocated, they've been here for 2 weeks.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 10:47 pmNixon when asked if any transfer look likely:

For how often Nixon knows something he equally plays fans and this is a prime example. He knows Burnley fans are asking questions so he joins in on a bit of a wind up.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 11:06 pmI’ve got no idea. I am assuming his contacts at the club have probably said no transfers are close because they don’t know if funds are available.
His answer could easily be “don’t know”, however saying “waiting to find out if funds are available” is far more dramatic!

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
There’s no way Nixon knows a thing. Alan Pace has already publicly stated there is money available.
Nixon makes money off pretending to know things that he doesn’t. Easy call, this one - doesn’t know anything himself, nobody else is reporting anything is close, typically we leave it late, so go for the easy line that nobody can refute providing we don’t complete a signing tomorrow!
If we sign anyone in next 11 days there’s no way we suddenly decided money was available 20 days in to the window - must take a lot longer than 10 days to negotiate a multi£ deal!

Linked with the same boring British old cheaper players like Deeney and Carroll nothing exciting or slightly expensive we are still scrapping the bottom of the barrel and rustling down the back of the sofa for transfer feesSteve1956 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 10:33 pmSame old story mate,it clearly looks like nothing has changed as this window slowly ebbs away, hasnt Pace already said staying in this division isnt important...looks like he might be presiding over life in a new division next season and not really be that bothered

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Simple fact is that agents tout their clients for as long as possible so that deals are generally only completed at the latest possible moment, or when the agent feels an optimum offer is on the table. Can’t see why so many posters harp on about a lack of sincerity in the club’s approach or blame them for a ‘lack of activity’. If a player REALLY wants to join a club or the offer is ‘over the odds’, then early deals are possible.

I think people are just concerned that our activity in this window seems to be next to nothing. It doesn’t help when the only outlets that have communicated in the past week are saying that we haven’t got funds to buy players (Amazon prime and now Nixon).jackmiggins wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 6:59 amSimple fact is that agents tout their clients for as long as possible so that deals are generally only completed at the latest possible moment, or when the agent feels an optimum offer is on the table. It’s a little concerning but like you say there’s been barely any transfers done so far. I think we are getting to the point where we might start hearing more about potential signings. Dyches presser should be interesting today to find out if anything is on horizon.
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
One £25 million quality signing who is good enough to start with the first team immediately might just be the difference between survival and relegation.
It’s not a question of ‘can we afford to spend so much money?’
It’s more a question of ‘can we afford not to spend it?’

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Maybe the sources of information to the likes of Nixon have been tightened up.
Maybe we want to conduct our Business out of the whole media spotlight.
I love a rumour but would be happier if we just found out when the deal is done.

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
We’ve not publicly been linked with Deeney and Carrol, it was just a bookie offering odds.
Someone else mentions Dyche’s press conference, he will just be his usual; dismissive self. Don’t expect to pick anything up from that.
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
If we could afford that amount on one player It's finding one that's not going to attract the interest of other clubs plus paying his wages, it would be a big risk. I agree though that we need re-enforcement's, especially up front.Mala591 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 7:40 amOne £25 million quality signing who is good enough to start with the first team immediately might just be the difference between survival and relegation.

I suspect it'll be a trade off between outgoings and incomings..as it is with most clubs. If we finish the window with McNeil, Brady, Pope, Tarks, Taylor and Wood still at Burnley, then that's a result in itself. Owt else will be a bonus.
Fingers crossed though.... I've been wrong before.

As others have said, Nixon loves to wind Burnley fans up. There’s obviously history and he has a dislike to our club and is often slyly laughing at us and poking fun.
He clearly knew absolutely nothing about our takeover and his answer to the question last night was as vague as they come. There’s absolutely no way way that people who conduct the transfers will be waiting to see if there’s any money available at this late stage. What a load of rubbish!

Derby really are up against the wall. Just seen that they have lost the legal case against Keogh. They now owe him 2m in wages.

He might be critical of our transfer dealings, which to be honest doesn't make him any different than the burnley fans on here.

With the clamour of many on this message board for the ALK deal to be completed before the start of January to enable the release of funds for transfers, expectations were certainly raised a notch or two.
It seems now that the timing of the deal was a False Flag.

It certainly does, and those that say there have only been five Premier League transfers so far forget how dire and sparse our summer transfer window was.

Lot of drama queens on here at the minute. Dyche may go in the summer equally we have no idea of the conversations currently being had between Dyche and Pace which might result in him being excited with the plans of the new owners and him signing a new deal.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 10:55 amHonestly where do you think he is going? As always none of us no what is going on behind the scenes transfer wise and what might have changed compared to previous poor windows but at least give them a chance!

Dyche has job security. When you filter out the clubs he has no chance of going to, and those who from Covid, don't have enough money to give to guarantee promotion from the Championship, there's not many / none left that would offer him that job security.

Does anyone actually know his wage demands or is everyone making assumptions based on a speculative Sunday newspaper article?
As he’s out of contract in the summer the transfer fee will be coming down in the closing days this month. Bournemouth will not want to lose him for nothing.

King a year or two ago would have been an exciting signing. Not so sure now, 0 goals this season in the Championship for a team challenging near the top is a worry too. Not exactly putting himself on the shop window for a last bumper pay day. Having said that, offers something a bit different and it may have just gone stale for him at Dean Court or whatever it's called now.

We need a new option up front - and someone proven yet affordable. You would struggle to find a better fit than Josh King, who is also rapid which is something we hugely lack.
I think that would be a top signing. If we were able to flog Vydra this month and bring in King, that’s a significant upgrade for me.
