Today’s football
Can’t see another thread but will merge if there is.
Just to report that Matty Cash has picked up his fifth yellow and Douglas Luiz has been sent off so both miss Villa’s game against us next Thursday.

Re: Today’s football
That sort of game is what is so rubbish about football today. What is the most important skill in modern football? The ability to touch someone and fall over. That's what Villa's penalty was for - he wasn't tripped. He ran into the box and fell over. If football was won on ball control and ability to put the ball in the net, it would have been a well deserved 0-0.
The Wolves sending off was the same. The Villa player ran past a wolves man and threw himself down. It needed slow motion to see if there was any touch at all - and yes, he "felt the touch" on his calf. Touching someone's calf does not make both his legs cease to function.
Players are cheats and referees are imbeciles. What is the point.

They were both clear fouls. Moutinho's booking seemed a big harsh though.dsr wrote: ↑Sat Dec 12, 2020 2:34 pmThat sort of game is what is so rubbish about football today. Re: Today’s football
Do you still get fined if you have more than 5 players carded?
Re: Today’s football
That's where we disagree. I don't think that just touching someone is enough to make it a foul; and if it is enough, it shouldn't make any difference whether the player falls over or not. Chris Wood has been touched many times in the penalty area this year, and hasn't had any penalties.
Out if interest - how should a referee decide when a foul has been committed - or rather, who has committed it? There is one small ball and two large players moving towards it. Inevitably, they will touch. Do you agree the present rule that says the one who falls over first can have the free kick, or is there a better way? Or do you not think that is the rule?

Ordinarily, I would want Bruce to fall flat on his ugly squashed face but, just for today, Come on you Magpies !
Re: Today’s football
Newcastle 1 up after 20 secs
Re: Today’s football
No.
Doesn't mean that the two incidents in today's game weren't clear fouls though.

What's happened to St. Maximin at Newcastle? He had a good game against us but haven't seen much of him lately.

I thought he was a bit unlucky as he didn’t kick him but the lad clipped his knee but it was a yellow. A tackle he had little chance of making.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Dec 12, 2020 3:07 pmMoutinho was silly to be honest but a clear penalty, not sure why anyone would think not.
