Sad news, hearing another fan has passed.
I have been told Monksy, who travelled with boundary clarets has passed away. Very sad news.

Rest in peace Monksy. I used to knock about with him in my teens. Always up fo a laugh.
He was getting helped up the hill at WBA the other year but the stewards thought he must be blind drunk and were trying to prevent him entry.
Despite his health problems he tried to live his life to the full and went up and down the country watching Burnley.

Re: Sad news, hearing another fan has passed.
Is he the gent who used to buy two programmes, putting one in a bag for his collection and one to read ? The chap I'm thinking of had a permanent mobility issue, and had an encyclopedic knowledge of all things Claret ..

I didn't know him but it's still very sad news to hear that. My sincere condolences to all his family. R.I.P.

Steven is the cousin of one of NZ Clarets founder members and someone who is actively involved in running things out here.
We are all sending our love, thoughts and prayers from New Zealand to his family and friends back home in Padiham.
RIP Monksy- all at NZ Clarets

I asked about him further up the thread but failed to say how sorry I am to hear of the passing of a fellow Claret.

Yes it's always sad to hear of any Clarets passing, but even more so at such a tender age. RIP Monksy.

I didn't know Monksy (probably seen him at matches though, so we will have covered some of the same ground) ... always sad to hear of someone so young passing on....

Very sad - a sound lad and big Claret.
Bumped into him from a young age with another Padiham lad who went to many games up and down the country. Even with the MS taking its toll he would still make it into the Cricketfield to get behind the team. Always had a good chat.
RIP Monksy

Re: Sad news, hearing another fan has passed.
I've spoken to the Boundary Clarets reps today and just been told he'd been admitted to hospital two and a half weeks ago, but apparently passed away peacefully while watching football on television yesterday afternoon.
He was just 42 I was told.
So, so sad.

Re: Sad news, hearing another fan has passed.
Really really saddened by this news. Monksy was a distant family relative and been on a few away games with him in recent seasons. Always polite and loved Burnley to bits. I knew he had been ill but it was a shock when I received the phone call yesterday. R.I.P Monksy.

The person who told me said just that, that he'd have probably chosen to go that way.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 10:40 pmVery sad news indeed. And I know of him but dont know him. But if you had to choose a way to go, I am sure he would have chose that.

Lots of his friends changed their facebook profile pictures to Burnley badges or related pictures for him. To show his love and support for Burnley, and it certainly worked with the win at Arsenal.

Re: Sad news, hearing another fan has passed.
Just been thinking about it and it was Monksy who I went to my first away game with. He arranged transport in his mates car.
Doncaster away in the FA cup when we won 3-1. Around 92 I think.
