‘Big Six’ wins
Even though Arsenal are garbage these days, tonight’s win does complete the set for us of wins against the big six (United, City, Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool) in the Prem. What’s your favourite?
Either of the United ones will be popular, or Boyd’s v City. Maybe the 19% possession win v Liverpool.. 3-2 at Chelsea.
Personally I think the 2-1 v Spurs a couple of season’s ago, actually the better team throughout in that one against a really good side.

Re: ‘Big Six’ wins
All very good and satisfying wins.
Very tough to top the 1-0 over Utd though in the first PL game at the Turf. I'd have to go with that

Re: ‘Big Six’ wins
My fav has got to be the 3-2 at Stamford bridge
Re: ‘Big Six’ wins
The 3-2 at Chelsea and 2-0 at Old Trafford were both fabulous but it has to be the win over United in 2009. It’s only the passage of time that has made it fade a little.

Re: ‘Big Six’ wins
Its tough to pick. Even tonights is a big one for various reasons.
United at home - to get that on our opening premier league game after so long in the doldrums and with a goal of that quality as well as a penalty save was special.
Chelsea away - dreamland. They were a top side. Champions. We were massive underdogs. Lovely sunny weekend in the capital. But we made ourselves sweat late on.
Liverpool was nice. To soak up all that pressure and beat them like we did was very nice. And great to see Defour.
Spurs a couple of seasons ago was massive at the time. And to beat them away at Wembley was also special.
Boyds goal v City was great. And they were as good a side we will ever face. Particularly nice given our record v them.
But for me has to be Old Trafford. Thats what the premier league was all about growing up. Biggest club in the world. We were nowheer when the premier league era started. And they went from strengh to strength. Dominating the world. Playing the best football. In front of almost 80,000. To actually compete with them, in a league game away at Old Trafford and to win as we did. With two great goals - one of them world class from a Burnley lad - forget 7th. Thats the pinicle of our recent journey for me! And also my last away game, there with my dad, brother and nephew. Special night!

Re: ‘Big Six’ wins
Most exciting game = 1-0 vs United
The win against Spurs at home was probably the best performance given we were playing an in-form team who were going for the title.
The wins against Liverpool and United (0-2 at Old Trafford) were the most comfortable but we weren't playing those teams when they were in form.
All of them are fantastic in their own way.

It’s not just a full set in the Premier League, it’s a full set under Dyche.

For me too. The Chelsea and Arsenal wins were exciting but slightly devalued by the sendings-off and (today) no crowd. At Old Trafford there was a full house (well fo 80 minutes at least) and we played them off the park for our 2-0 win.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 10:59 pmIts tough to pick. His dad was sat behind us. Didn’t see his reaction but he must have been proud.

It felt like a win but do you mean the game when Wood equalised at the end?cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 10:59 pm

Ah yes. I stand corrected. Felt like a win as I was completely pi55ed, in hospitality with spurs fans and put £20 on wood to score next when he came on! And then met him after the game. Needless to say that and a weekend at Notting Hill Carnival means the only two things I remember clearly were the goal and the winning bet!JohnDearyMe wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 11:39 pmIt felt like a win but do you mean the game when Wood equalised at the end?

Re: ‘Big Six’ wins
Hmm! tough question after much thought I'll opt for the 2-1 at home to Spurs, that totally derailed their title challenge, and Poch's meltdown at the final whistle was comedy gold.
2nd would have to be the win at OT, after the 2 injury time heartbreaks it looked like our chance of a victory there had passed, but Wood and Jay clearly didn't agree.
3rd has to be the 2-0 over Liverpool, they could have played for days and never scored, plus Defour & Gray were awesome that afternoon.

Re: ‘Big Six’ wins
I think, just, Man Utd at home because of that absolute wonder goal from Robbie and the context of it being our first home game back in the PL but the Boyd winner against Man City led to an incredible atmosphere at the Turf under the Saturday evening lights. Remember leaving the ground and walking down Harry Potts Way with people singing. All these results have left me buzzing for days that's for sure.
Re: ‘Big Six’ wins
Tough choice. Have mates who support Spurs, Liverpool and Chelsea. So enjoyed them. Particularly the Spurs win as he'd been ribbing me for months on end, still does tbh; though he was tickled pink by our win at Arsenal.
Probably the Arsenal game though just because of all the dodgy goings on and strange decisions against us in past games.

Re: ‘Big Six’ wins
I like this game, especially when I thought it would be our last ever Premier league game (I didn't think we would be back again lol) and we went out with a bang.

Re: ‘Big Six’ wins
Agree with the OP that the Spurs win two seasons ago was probably the best in that we were much the better side but then there is Chelsea, that stunning opening day win which still takes some believing.
But I don't think anyone who knows me will be surprise that my favourite Big Six win came last January at that place called Old Trafford, simply because I'd waited years and years to experience that.

All impressive in their own way but for me the fact that the calendar year 2020 has given us wins at Man Utd and Arsenal (and so nearly Liverpool) and draws against Arsenal and Spurs is the biggest standout of all

Re: ‘Big Six’ wins
The 1-0 win at home to Man U. with the Robbie Blake stunner was special as it was a moment many fans thought they would never see. The atmosphere was different and special too.
However, it now feels like a completely different era to what we are seeing these days. I'd take the Spurs victory two seasons ago as that was a fantastic performance.

Re: ‘Big Six’ wins
all wins are good, these mentioned against the top six were all super
For me the game against Liverpool was the one I enjoyed the most in that it seemed a complete performance, two excellent well taken, midfield were not over run and defence rarely troubled. They had all the possession and yet so little real penetration, none of the GK was out of this world, no hitting woodwork continually, we threatened and I was never nervous, as I was for example against Chelsea when they came back from 3-0 down to 3-2.
Of course this is all from memory and I could be embellishing, but that is how I remember it in my mind
