I Luv Man..
Fair play to a guy from Scotland travelling by jet ski a normal 40 minute journey in 4 +hours and walking 15 miles to meet his girlfriend. Now doing porridge.

I’m not sure if illegally travelling from Scotland to a covid-free island and going to nightclubs deserves any praise. What a wally.

I thought you'd opted for a rather severe lifestyle change when I read the title, " timnoone " ! Mrs Clarets4me and I logged in especially to offer our firm support and friendship at this sensitive time, but then I read the thread .... Festive greetings anyway !

Ah, so that is how it works is it? Just because Cummings was a fecking idiot it’s ok for everyone else to also do stupid things? I presume that’s the case in your view is it? Either that or you’re just trying to score a political point?

Blimey, love, take it easy.
Cummings, as you say, is a fecking idiot who got caught and lied. This bloke is a fecking idiot who got caught and didn't lie.
One gets jailed, the other doesn't. I'm not sure if that's a political point, you can decide that, I'm not particularly interested.
I've certainly not even hinted at your interpretation of "it's OK for everyone also to also do stupid things" - even for a gorgeous lass like that.

Just the opposite. People are desperate to come here. Houses are selling for the asking price within 24 hours of going on the market to buyers on the mainland.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 7:38 pmMost people would be that desperate to get off the Isle of Man.
There is no better place in the world at present. We are Covid free in the community. Apart from travelling off island, life is pretty much as normal here. No face masks, shops, pubs and restaurants all open as usual. I play Bowls three times a week, get to visit friends and family and drink beer.
Our government have been brilliant during the covid crisis and have the full support of the public. I'm definitely not remotely interested in leaving the island let alone desperate.

Re: I Luv Man..
quite an impressive feat, no idea how far it is, but surely if he ran out of fuel or the motor packed up he'd be dead.
also, how did he know where to aim the thing? he could have just rode past it.

You can see all 4 countries from the island on a clear day so depending on the weather he'd be able to see it all the way.Wile E Coyote wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 9:00 amquite an impressive feat, no idea how far it is, but surely if he ran out of fuel or the motor packed up he'd be dead.

Re: I Luv Man..
It's a journey of 25 miles, he was thinking about 40 minutes, apparently, but poor weather turned it into five hours.
He landed and then walked fifteen, not five hundred, to fall down at her door.
At no time, it appears, did he put himself or anybody else in danger. He got rumbled after an ID check - he'd been with her for two nights by then anyway, lucky get, so you'd hope she'd made it worth his while.
Four weeks, maximum, in the slammer - as someone said earlier, a cracking story to tell.

You haven't got a clue what you're talking about. It's a treacherous stretch of water at the best of times. Factor-in bad weather, ferries & container vessels and he's lucky to be alive.evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 12:24 pmIt's a journey of 25 miles, he was thinking about 40 minutes, apparently, but poor weather turned it into five hours.

After initially lying about his address to the police and then to his girlfriend as to his whereabouts in the preceding three weeks.

Yes, we've established he lied, hence my subsequent "As I then said, both got caught, both lied and only one went to jail. " comment.
Cummings came out best, though, didn't he ? Kept his job, given a chance to tell his lies on national TV AND get a £40,000 pay rise into the bargain.
What's not to like ?
I'm sure both of them thought it was worth it in their own different ways..........

Ronaldsways still open mate, if you mean the aerospace company, part of RLC group. I do work for them and got a job there about 4 years ago... my wife called the shots at last minute as well despite a great relocation package! Yes I lived there for about 4 years 1989 to 1993, and was always put in my place if I ever said I am going to the mainland for anything. I was told no this is the mainland you are going across. I was also told that I was a "come over" and the only thing worse than that is a "stop over"
