Tonight's football 16-Dec-2020

Post by Paul Waine » Wed Dec 16, 2020 4:57 pm

Amazon Prime showing all the games tonight:

18:00 kick-offs

Arsenal v Soton;
Leeds v Newcastle;
Leicester v Everton;

20:00 kick-offs

Fulham v Brighton;
Liverpool v Spurs;
West Ham v Crystal Palace

Which games are we all watching?

I'm planning to watch Arsenal v Soton at 6pm. See if Danny Ings can take another 3 points from Arsenal...

Then it will be Liverpool v Spurs at 8pm. See how the top of the table develops - while keeping an eye on Fulham v Brighton. Statistically a draw is the better result for the Clarets between these two.

I have little regard for Southampton FC but I'd love to see them win about 3-0 this evening. Watching the continued meltdown/recriminations at Arsenal (and the "national" press) would be most amusing.

Otherwise, a load of 0-0 or 1-1 draws would be excellent. Maybe a win for Leicester over Everton to put a bit dampener on the Ancelotti fan club.

Gonna go with Leicester City v Everton then Liverpool v Spurs. I’m expecting a Spurs victory tonight. Soak it up, hit them on the break 1-2.

I’d normally go for everton but with Pickford rested I want the new lad to keep his place with clean sheets.

Come on Theo lad, another against your old team please. It'd be excellent breakfast-time entertainment tomorrow morning seeing all the crying/angry Gooners.

I think home vs Newcastle is the sort of game I expect Leeds to get a rare win. It'll be 3 points for them this evening.

Saints looking a top team at Arsenal. Working their socks off defensively but with some superb pass & move when they have the ball.

It is the game they should be winning but want a draw from this game and the fulham game later on so whilst it stays 1-1, I am happy with what I am seeing.

Hayden goes through the back of a Leeds player, plays the ball but the Leeds player goes down screaming and, in the modern game, he gets a free kick and Hayden gets a yellow.
Five minutes later, Leeds player goes through the back of Wilson on the edge of the 6 yard box, nothing given and Kevin Friend on VAR says no penalty. I don't know what the commentators or pundits have said because I listen to my vinyl collection rather than constant blather. Certainly one law for one but not for the other.

Yes it should, still cannot see how Elneny stayed on at the weekend.

I believe 3 reds for BHA is the nearest challenger to Arsenal in the red-card league whilst Arteta has been in charge. Real dominance for them.

Everton 2 up and looking good for the 3 points. This league gets more bizarre by the week.

Leeds winning they won't go down, they score too many goals, and will win their fair share of matches, mind you they do ship a lot as well.

Arsenal hanging on a for a point against Southampton, their ill discipline proving costly once more.

Agree on Leeds, Arsenal I'm not so sure about on paper their squad should be comfortably top 10, but there's clearly problems in their camp, and they don't just disappear overnight, I sense Arteta will probably have to go, might not seem fair on him, but something has to give, a club of that stature can't accept sitting 15th in the league, and it's not a fluke that they are struggling, they've been poor for weeks now, and these sending offs are becoming comical.

Plus Leeds look a nervous wreck every time a ball is crossed into their box, both in this game and against West Ham.

Like Sheffield United, they are very thankful to their keeper.

It's a good job for Arsenal that they won their opening 2 games, 8 points from 11 games is very much relegation form since then, I don't think they'll be dragged into the dogfight, but it's not impossible they could be sucked into the scrap, their supposed big players aren't producing the goods on a consistent basis.
