Tarkowski
Who were the posters saying his head is not at Burnley anymore?
Once again been our best player, pretty much every game since City.

Re: Tarkowski
Didn't CT mention that Tarky had said he would still give his all for the club. I didn't see last night's game but reading the reports he sounded to be carrying out his promise. I really hope we can keep him until the end of the season but January will tell us more.

Re: Tarkowski
He’s put himself on the market.... in doing so he’s cost us millions. We don’t know how many yet, but he has.
Hasn’t stopped him getting stuck in tho... he had a great game last nite.

Re: Tarkowski
When we signed him he agreed to join us on a 3 and half year deal to play football. Did we get him cheaper than Brentford would have wanted after he said he wanted to move back north ?
No player has a duty to a club to put his sale price at the top of his list of considerations

Re: Tarkowski
In some respects people may argue for the previous system when the chairman told players when they have been sold.Andy Lochead told a story about being summoned into Bob Lords office. He thought he was being praised for a good goal, only to be told he was off to Birmingham to sign for Villa as Bob had agreed to sell him. However, these bully boy tactics much loved by past chairmen would now be a breach of employment law.

Re: Tarkowski
I'd rather we get an agreement in place with Tarky that he can leave for a cut price (£20m or so) in the summer with our blessing if he remains for this season, and that we sign his successor in January.
That is more valuable to us than getting £35m (minus Brentford's cut) in January.

Re: Tarkowski
Tarkowski has played well over the last 4 or 5 games
but no one player is that influential as to be able to keep
a team from going down.
Without Mee alongside him and Pope behind then
we may well have lost more games than we have even though
Tarkowski might have been MOM in all games.
Having said that I hope he stays until the end of the season
and continues playing as well.

I'd rather give him what he wants and get an agreement that he stays with us for a long time. Could that happen after this projected buy out?jedi_master wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 10:13 amI'd rather we get an agreement in place with Tarky that he can leave for a cut price (£20m or so) in the summer with our blessing if he remains for this season, and that we sign his successor in January.

I hope he stays as long as possible (though I don't think he will). He has been one of the best center backs I have seen in a Burnley shirt.

Re: Tarkowski
I would hope for another deal after the takeover, but accept it would have to have a decent cast iron release clause for it to be a goer. This means that until the release clause is met he remains a Burnley player... but also we would need a replacement on the shelf for when that offer arrives.

Re: Tarkowski
Hmm! I'm not sure I'd agree one player can't make the difference between going down or not, check out Palace's record with and without Zaha, it's chalk and cheese. And without Grealish last season Villa would almost certainly have dropped.jurek wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 10:15 amTarkowski has played well over the last 4 or 5 games

You do raise a fair point though, Tarks played in our early games, Newcastle, Spurs & Chelsea, and we looked poor at the back in that run, it's only once Ben returned that the solidity and clean sheets have also reappeared.
Ideally I'd like us to keep JT until the summer, and hopefully he'll play a large part in our survival, then if he still won't commit to a new deal we'll have no choice but to let him go.
But at least if he leaves during the close season this will give SD and more importantly Ben Mee time to integrate a new cb into the club

Re: Tarkowski
He wants to play at the highest level possible, so he's probably looking at a team that regularly competes in Europe, sadly we can't offer that option therefore it's understandable why he'd be getting itchy feet, plus he'll surely be hoping to force himself into GS thoughts as regards England selection.
I don't think it's necessarily just about the money, and if we cave in to his demands where does that leave the rest of the dressing room? I'd like to keep Tarks, but not at any cost.

I'm glad to have Tarks in our team. Alongside Ben Mee, he's been a rock.
I despair at the attitude of some "supporters" regarding our players. I'd like to think that players don't read these pages but, get real, of course they do. Any negativity is bound to affect them. As "supporters" our role is to help our squad, especially during this weirdest of years.
AND, Merry Christmas to one and all, except Jon Moss

Re: Tarkowski
I did mention it and he did say that and all it needs is to watch him play. I thought he was awesome again last night. This is a player who has no problem with his team mates, no problem with his manager and no problem with our club, he just wants the opportunity to better himself.beddie wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 8:23 amDidn't CT mention that Tarky had said he would still give his all for the club. I think its more that he wants to further his career. Realistically he's not going to do that with us, so i don't begrudge him a decent move.

Re: Tarkowski
He was linked to Leicester and West Ham. I .ay be wrong but I would hope with some financial backing we could compete to their level.
Re: Tarkowski
I don't think ALK will be throwing that much money about. Leicester are light years ahead of us.

Re: James Tarkowski
I agree. James Tarkowski is playing out of his skin and elevating his position in the shop window.
Not only that - before this latest escapade, he used to play out if his skin, just to get in the England team.
And - before that he played out of his skin, as soon as he got a chance of first team football, just to stay in our team.
Also, when he arrived from Brentford, he sat patiently waiting for his opportunity to replace Michael Keane and when he got that chance, the greedy so and so played out of his skin, to make sure no one else got a look in!
Who needs these players who just continuously put everything out there, just to help their mates, their club and themselves?
Every club!

Tarkowski ‘s outstanding form at the moment is an indicator he has settled down now after a less than settled start to his season.
It’s also an indicator that he needs Ben Mee next to him to bring out his best.

His recent performances have been magnificent, positional sense is outstanding in cutting out crosses in the box, leadership qualities excellent and no one can doubt his commitment.
