Today's Football 19-12-20
I'm watching the Norwich vs Cardiff game, could be a good one. 2000 fans in too.
Cardiff only a point ahead of Rovers, so wouldn't mind if they win.

Re: Today's Football 19-12-20
I thought Liverpool seemed to be stuttering a bit in this game but 3-0 up at half time! Palace had some decent moves and at least one v good opportunity but excellent strikers make all the difference.
Incidentally- I wish Liverpool hadnt changed colours, in the sunshine (most of the time on most of the pitch so far) the all royal blue with a bit of red v all black with a bit of red is much more of a clash than royal blue with a bit of red v all red.

Buendia scored for Norwich, bossing it for them in parts. Some of his passing is sensational.
Wilson poor so far.

Klopp is so adamant that he needs lots of subs to keep his star men rested....so brings on Salah when they are 4..0 up

They were trying to claim earlier that the players perform better with fans in the stadium at home games.
If you're being paid millions of quid, I'd expect a top performance every game.

Shows how weird football is at the moment in that you'd have expected Palace to give Liverpool a far better game than Fulham did.

Re: Today's Football 19-12-20
Was that only 1 minute extra in the Palace v Liverpool game? I think that was in sympathy to save CP from further punishment, 6 substitutions in the 2nd half (and all those goal celebrations).

Re: Today's Football 19-12-20
Palace are capable of playing exciting football but they lack the charecter to go any higher than mid table.
I can see Palace struggling to recover from this and getting sucked into the relegation area

Re: Today's Football 19-12-20
Definitely think you can include Palace in danger of relegation group of sides. Will Hodgson survive the season? He has been under pressure before at Palace.
As for Norwich, looking a good bet for immediate return to the PL. Same could well be said of Bournemouth and Watford. Championship looks weak from what I've seen this season.

It's the quality of the goals that stand out from this game - all seven could be included in the goal of the month competition.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sat Dec 19, 2020 2:47 pmjust got up, seen the score...........when you consider Spurs could only draw at Palace last week it makes it even more impressive

We get criticised at least once a year when City do us but what on earth can you do when a team scores goals like that against you. It left Hodgson smiling on the touchline, he knew they had no chance of responding.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sat Dec 19, 2020 3:05 pmyeah I just saw the goals, Salah's last was superb but Firminio's first touch for his first goal was breathtaking, Messi like

Re: Today's Football 19-12-20
Another prime example of a goalie coming a cropper faffing about at the back: Hudd v Watford 1-0.
Watford keeper got a comfortable back-pass with bags of time to hoof it anywhere; started deliberating about whether to pass short with his left foot or right foot. Got closed down and hit it against that player, ball rolled to 2nd Hudd player in the middle of the box and quickly transferred into the back of the net.

Re: Today's Football 19-12-20
Didn’t see the game but it’s a real big bear of mine. Why should the referee have the discretion to end the game early? Championships can be won and relegation decided on goal difference.

Someone needs to have that discretion, surely you are not proposing Klopp or hodgson etc to make that decision, the referee has always reserved that right.

Why should referees have the discretion to end games before the correct duration has been played?

Re: Today's Football 19-12-20
Someone needs to decide, if you are suggesting “why should referees have the discretion to end games early” it would assist your reasoning to offer an alternative suggestion, eg linesmen, fourth official, the game was done & dusted & I recognise that’s not the point, at least 4 mins should have been played a extra 3, I’m asking who else but the referee do you deem fit & proper to determine any additional minutes that need to be played out after the full 90? We have hypothetically reached the point now where the referees powers don’t include that judgement call.
