Supporter/travel threads
Hi all,
Based on feedback over the back end of last season when we made the travel threads a sticky, I'd like your opinion on where we should put them for the coming season.
Please answer the poll - it'll last for a week. We'll use feedback to do what people think is best.

Feel free to add any other suggestions/feedback to the thread too. We want to make it as easy as possible for people to book with Leisure on Accy Clarets or indeed on any other supporters club.

Re: Supporter/travel threads
I only use the Bee Hole forum and forget about the other forum pages so personally I'd prefer this forum as a sticky.

Re: Supporter/travel threads
I don't like going on some of these boards that have different forums for travel, transfers, off topic and the like. It's better that everything is on the same board.
It is a little annoying though when you sometimes get a quarter of a page of stickys.
Leisure and the like are pretty much on the ball at bumping the threads up, so they should just be left as normal threads. Folk will see them.

Re: Supporter/travel threads
For those of you saying leave them in the main board as a sticky - do you feel there is a limit to the number we should sticky? Or a timescale? Should we sticky it in the 2 weeks until kick off or maybe until Leisure confirms the buses are full?

Re: Supporter/travel threads
No disrespect to Leisure but other supporters groups advertise their travel on this site but never get a sticky.
My thoughts are that if Accy clarets want to use this site for bookings then no it should not be on the main message board

Why?
I'm pretty sure that the best place for one of Burnley's more popular supporters travel clubs bookings threads is to be on the busiest Burnley message board.

Re: Supporter/travel threads
Those threads that have local ground , pub, parking info are quite handy too
Deffo have them all on the main board
Not fussed if they're sticky

Can certainly look at getting those going again Garnerssoap. I agree, they were good. They've got us some good pubs and parking spots over the past couple of years.

Re: Supporter/travel threads
Is there in reality not just Leisure and on the odd occasion rossiclaret advertise their supporters club coaches on this message board?
It is obviously going to be busy this season and with away travel and people looking to book coaches and surely it would make
1. The organisers lives easier if the thread was on a sticky so they didn't have to go searching for it on a busy board and
2. Fans could immediately see it when they logged into the message board.
I don't see this as a competition but a service to many travelling supporters.
Im for the IN vote

Re: Supporter/travel threads
Accy run coaches to every game in any division, you see a lot of people book on here with them, is it really a problem for some for it to be a sticky ?
Bit childish the point that other people run coaches and don't get that option more so when half the time the reply on here is sorry we aren't running a coach to this game.

Re: Supporter/travel threads
they should definitely be on the main board but please don't make them stickies, there's enough as it is.
they're always popular enough to stay near the top anyway.

Re: Supporter/travel threads
BFSC run coaches to every game and have done since 1981 we are quite happy with the details being placed on the Away Travel section as they have been in the past.

Re: Supporter/travel threads
It would be better to have an away fan section built up on a separate bit. Supporters clubs, ticket info + spares, pub info. Train station info, parking etc
It could improve the site massively to add to the messageboard. IMHO

Re: Supporter/travel threads
There are various supporters clubs each being slightly different from the rest in age profile of the fans travelling. some are the older end , some are mainly lads, some are family oriented and mixed age ranges. , Set off times depend on the length of stay at a pub or services en route. rules membership, concessions, pick up points etc
I just hope every group is given a fair shout and not all geared towards one particular club.

Re: Supporter/travel threads
Everybody is entitled to do it the way they see fit. If 5 supporters groups want to do a separate thread that's fine. If they want it on the away travel section of the website; again, that's fine. The site will do whatever they can to help.

Re: Supporter/travel threads
Leave them as they are, let them drop down the board like a normal post.
Re: Supporter/travel threads
From Accy Clarets point of view, we always provide our travel information for it to go onto the Away Travel section of the site. We also then start a thread for each game which, in addition to giving travel information, allows people to make a booking. Previously bookings could be made either on the message board or by ringing The Stanley. However, it now won't be possible to make bookings through The Stanley so people will need to use the message board to make bookings. From the point of view of people wanting to make bookings we feel that placing the threads on a sticky would be easier for them to find the threads but we're happy to accept what users and the Mods decide is best for the site.

Re: Supporter/travel threads
How about a separate forum, but a permanent sticky on this forum to the other? Some people with have bookmarked The Bee Hole End forum, and won't realise that there is a separate forum.

Re: Supporter/travel threads
I think we just need to be realistic about how we do it. Everyone had a chance to vote on the poll and the results are there for all to see but we can't have 6 or 7 threads as a sticky at the top. May limit it to two or three and take the sticky off when your bus is full and you can bump if there are any cancellations. How does that sound?
Re: Supporter/travel threads
Fine by me. Normally we would probably only have 2 or 3 threads on the go at the same time but at the minute we've got 4 for all the friendly games.

See Tony's thread for another suggestion, Leisure. Probably a better one for you too.
