Today's footie 26/12/20

Post by tiger76 » Sat Dec 26, 2020 12:12 pm

So although the mighty Clarets aren't in action today, there is plenty of other games to whet the appetite.

Not least Leicester-Man Utd at lunchtime.

For those still harbouring hopes of Daniel James leaving Utd, he starts today, so It's safe to say we can put that rumour to bed.

From a BFC perspective wins for Chelsea, City, Southampton & Villa would be welcome.

And Sheff Wed returning over the Pennines with all 3 points would be the icing on the cake.

United seem to struggle to find the right formula at the back, always looking dodgy regardless of team selection

1-1 Harvey Barnes. can't see it finishing 1-1 the way these 2 are defending.

And yes for all United's quality going forward they are still leaky at the back, what often gets them out of jail is they are scoring 2/3 goals a game, so their defensive problems aren't yet costing them points.

Watching Soccer Saturday, reviewing our game... or should that be Leeds. That's all they talked about.

We got a minute in at the end.

Wouldn't expect anything less, as long as we bag the 3 points tomorrow, they can talk about Leeds until they're hoarse.

Merson thinks the way they play will suit us.

I can't see James lasting at United much longer, he's nowhere near good enough.

2-2 at the King Power, perfect result for Liverpool, and the rest of the chasing pack.

Meanwhile the Stevie G Rangers bandwagon rolls on, 19 points clear after another Ibrox win, Scotty came on as a sub, but then had to go off himself with an ankle injury.

BTW Southampton are missing several key players including Danny Ings for their trip to the cottage, hope they can still pull a result out of the bag.

A quick count shows 6 league games postponed, and many more in the non-leagues, don't know how many are covid related, or due to the severe weather, possibly an element of both.

The games are piling up for Accy though, hope it doesn't derail their promotion challenge.

I can understand the testing of lower league teams isn't as good as in the PL but surely the players themselves should be keeping safe and thus there should be no more postponements down the leagues than there are in the Prem.

Cannot believe that Pawson even suggested he go and have a look at the monitor. Took over two and a half minutes to sort that out.

Stupid 1st booking from Mings, and that always leaves you on the edge.

VAR call correct but what took so long.

How on earth Mings is playing football at PL level is beyond me. He was poor when playing at Ipswich and as I recall couldn't get a regular game at Bournemouth. Clearly I know nothing as Gareth Softsh**e sees fit to pick this liability ahead of our two much better centre halves! Interesting that the two serial fallers Zaha and Grealish, when through on goal but under pressure find it quite easy to stay upright but can't do so elsewhere on the pitch!! ;)

Grealish must practice diving. He's really very good at it. Quite often he's into the fall before contact is made, that must take some practice. Clever. Cheating, but clever.

I'll take Fulham getting a draw, shows how vital it is to put the points on the board, whatever happens tomorrow we'll not be in the bottom 3.

A winning start for Michael Jolley at Barrow. 2-0 victory at Port Vale.

I must be unduly optimistic - I was hoping we could still catch Villa, so was hoping for a draw FF. Better than a Palace win though.

Gutted Southampton didn’t beat Fulham though.
