Players Down Injured
Players Down Injured
I’ve thought for a long time that to stop players going down and feigning injury, the trainer should just come on and see to the player while play continues. Like they do in rugby.
The game would flow more, and players would know to get up as soon as they could because their team is playing with a man down

Re: Players Down Injured
Nah, they should be taken off the pitch for an examination and if they've been rolling around holding their leg then they should use a stretcher.
That should encourage them to stop looking like idiots.

All agreed. It’s the only way to actually stop the constant play acting.Shappie wrote: ↑Sat Dec 26, 2020 7:07 pmI’ve thought for a long time that to stop players going down and feigning injury, the trainer should just come on and see to the player while play continues. Like they do in rugby.

Someone who sits close to me on the Turf used to say that they should be dragged off face down by their legs. If they complained about the soil going up their nose then they weren't injured

Your nearby Claret sounds very much like a professional Yorkshire man but he makes a good point.Claret Till I Die wrote: ↑Sat Dec 26, 2020 7:19 pmSomeone who sits close to me on the Turf used to say that they should be dragged off face down by their legs. Also, How often do you see players being told to leave the pitch to receive treatment? Very rarely

It's a bit of a grey area, i've seen players picked up and taken off when they probably shouldn't have been
the trouble with footballers is that so many cheat.

Here’s a suggestion. You go off the field for as long as you lie on the ground. Genuine injury, sub comes on, no problem. Wasting time for 30 seconds, then you leave your team with ten men for the next 30 seconds.

They should book anyone who's suddenly "fixed" no less than 60 seconds after the whistle has gone.
Edit: straight red for those wankers who hop up a millisecond after it

Re: Players Down Injured
As soon as a game is stopped for injury genuine or not, the 4th official should immediately start a stopwatch at the ref's whistle, for additional time until the ball is back in play
At the moment I believe time is only added on if a trainer comes onto the pitch
Can't see why the ref can be expected to look after this matter when the 4th official is doing pretty much naff all
My other real gripe is the amount of additional yardage players take at either free kicks or throw ins. Asst Refs should be much stronger in helping the man in the middle. Amazing how many times a ball goes out by the corner flag and the resulting throw in starts well in front of this

It works in Rugby because the ball rarely ever goes from one end to the other quickly unlike football.Shappie wrote: ↑Sat Dec 26, 2020 7:07 pmI’ve thought for a long time that to stop players going down and feigning injury, the trainer should just come on and see to the player while play continues. It works in rugby because the players aren’t a bunch of moaning pussies. If play continues whilst a player is down, the pathetic writhing around will stop. I hate the tosses that roll back onto the pitch after going down just over the line and the ones that roll x4 one way then back x4 the other holding the shin even when it was just an hand across the chest that sent him to the floor

Man City scored a ridiculous one against us the other week...had to be 10 yards from where it went out. Very basic things they can’t get right tbh.jojomk1 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 27, 2020 7:44 amMy other real gripe is the amount of additional yardage players take at either free kicks or throw ins. Re: Players Down Injured
I noticed Arsenal players feigning injury from about 55 minutes onwards last night. Diabolical. Something needs to be done. But nothing will be done.
