Does anybody else find Man City boring?
Just watching their game tonight and it’s basically attack v defence and I find it incredibly boring. I know we are shite to watch a lot of the time but all this passing for passing sake I can’t stand. I liked it when he first introduced the style at Barcelona but for what it’s done to the modern game I think it’s just created copycat teams who can’t play the style and it’s dull.

Re: Does anybody else find Man City boring?
Yes find them incredibly dull compared to teams like liverpool, united and Leicester which play a more counter attacking brand of football. Sometimes Burnley are better to watch than city when they feel the need to keep the ball for 15 minutes “looking for an opening.” Sometimes it feels like they keep the ball for the sake of it.

Re: Does anybody else find Man City boring?
Very predictable and yes, dull
Re: Does anybody else find Man City boring?
Yes, I find them and their manager boring as well. For all the money they’ve spent, they’re nowhere near Liverpool either in quality or entertainment.
The way Liverpool attack with pace and power is so much better to watch from a neutrals perspective.

Re: Does anybody else find Man City boring?
If you set markers as Burnley being at one end of the spectrum (at our worst) and city being at the other end in terms of footballing style, both are dull to watch, I find that a mixture is far better and as said above, Liverpool are a better team to watch.

They're behaving like Arsenal did under Wenger for a while.
Over passing it, even when it was easier to score instead of passing it again...
Makes you shout at the TV to "just effing shoot"!!!

It wasn't him who brought that style to Barca,it was Cruyffgandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Sat Dec 26, 2020 9:52 pmJust watching their game tonight and it’s basically attack v defence and I find it incredibly boring. Re: Does anybody else find Man City boring?
I know that, what I meant was he brought it back and modernised it for the modern game. Cruyff changed Barcelona when he arrived with his ‘total football philosophy’ both as a player and then as a manager, they were showing signs of returning to their passing style in the early part of the next decade under Frank Rijkaard but Guardiola reinforced the cruyff philosophy which was great to see at Barcelona initially however it was a revolution on modern football to the point of overkill and I don’t think it’s for the better. We now judge goalkeepers on their kicking ability rather than their ability to keep the ball out of the net for example, inverted wing backs, ball playing defenders, false 9s.... just over killStevie2112 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 26, 2020 10:03 pmIt wasn't him who brought that style to Barca,it was Cruyff

I admire KDBs footballing ability. The guy is immense, and he is great to watch. The style though isn’t for me

Yes unless they play the top four the result is inevitably a win for them, that is boring in itself

If I went to the turf and watched Burnley win 5...0 most weeks I'd soon tire of it. The not knowing what's gonna happen is part of the attraction...

Re: Does anybody else find Man City boring?
There is nothing worse than watching a team (any team) tip tapping it around the penalty area looking for that eye of a needle pass to a player (usually a cheating little turd) running into the box.
Get the f***ing thing o'er in t' box.

Re: Does anybody else find Man City boring?
City wont be winning it this year with all the 5..0s I'm sure.kritichris wrote: ↑Sat Dec 26, 2020 11:23 pmI wouldn't, it would beat a relegation scrap each year and we would be prem champions year in year out.

I watched Sheff Utd v Everton instead, can't stand watching City. A few years ago they were entertaining, now just a bore fest.

I’ve said this for a while as well. The “little triangles” and high pressing football that Pep utilises is awful to watch.

Re: Does anybody else find Man City boring?
I never watch City or United . I can't stand the Manchester clubs along with their arrogant fans
Re: Does anybody else find Man City boring?
At first it was exciting to watch but i can take it or leave it now. To be honest if there's a championship game on the other channel I prefer to watch that, more hustle bussle.
Re: Does anybody else find Man City boring?
I wish we could bore and score as many goals!!!
But yes I prefer to watch more exciting football than what they play, but it works very well for them.

Re: Does anybody else find Man City boring?
I think it must bore the City "fans" too.Whenever we are on the end of their demolition jobs half their crowd seems to leave on about 70 minutes.
Re: Does anybody else find Man City boring?
It’s not working that well at the minute for them, to be fair.
Still no Champions League success and they don’t look like they’ll win the Premier League again this year, either.
Guardiola has done no better than Pellegrini or Mancini.

Re: Does anybody else find Man City boring?
They won't win it under Pep either, he can't build a team capable of doing that.
At Barca he had to make a few tweaks but the majority of that team was available to him from the start of his tenure.

Re: Does anybody else find Man City boring?
I wish we could afford the players to play a 'happy medium'. I prefer the old fashioned English style of getting crosses into the box to the strikers, although the long ball from the back up to the strikers can also get a little boring. I hate passing it around for the sake of it, but having the players to be able to pass the ball quickly through midfield up to the wingers or strikers would be ideal.
Re: Does anybody else find Man City boring?
Imo people think of Liverpool as the free flowing, fast attacking, counter attack football. This then pushes exciting games to the front of your mind they’ve been involved in over the past few years.
For Man City it’s controlling football, passing it around at the back and completely overwhelming opponents. This then pushes games against Burnley for example to the front of your mind and whilst it can be “boring” purely because it’s so easy for them.
Liverpool look terrible at times against teams that sit in against them. All this talk of their front 3 being “world class” is overused imho. They’re great players, I’m not doubting that. But they’re no better than lot’s of players in this league. Conditions in the game have to be perfect for them to operate, eg lot’s of space to run into.

Yes. Predictable and unexciting games and style of play. They were exciting under Mancini. Those days are long gone.

Re: Does anybody else find Man City boring?
I agree. They make it look too easy. If anyone finds watching Man City boring - then maybe you're watching too many games on the telly.
Re: Does anybody else find Man City boring?
Man City can play but sometimes overplay.
The rest of the copycat team can't play, so bore the pants off football. We should remember why the continentals liked our football, in the first place, before it is too late.
Hard tackling, never say die spirit and no falling over.

Point proved yesterday. Everyone will ignore that Liverpool performance and just remember the Barcelona game.Billy Balfour wrote: ↑Sun Dec 27, 2020 11:38 amI agree. They make it look too easy. If anyone finds watching Man City boring - then maybe you're watching too many games on the telly.
