Oh dear oh dear. He’d have kept them up in the end. They’ll go down now.

He’s a busted flush who’s thrown his toys out of the pram at too many clubs. Statement suggests not just results that are the problem. Terrible appointment.

Re: Sheffield Wednesday sack Pulis
They are fast becoming the next Watford, how the heck is any manager going to turn a club around in the space of 4/5 weeks bonkers.
I have no idea if something has gone on behind the scenes, but they boast a win and a draw from their last 2 games, and they sack the gaffer.
Who in their right mind would take that job now it's a poisoned chalice.

Re: Sheffield Wednesday sack Pulis
I'm convinced now that some clubs only sack managers so that they can have the new manager bounce effect that might get them a few wins and once it dries up they realise their mistakes...and the process continues ad infinitum.

Re: Sheffield Wednesday sack Pulis
Oh! I didn't realise their form was so bad, even so how many times do you change the manager, clearly that whole club stinks from top to bottom, and whoever takes the reins has an almost impossible job on their hands.
Re: Sheffield Wednesday sack Pulis
He was on tv recently and whilst not having a go at the club directly talked about the players needed paying, apparently they'd not had their full monthly wages for sometime. Obviously their recent results haven't helped him but perhaps the wages issue has contributed to his sacking.
Re: Sheffield Wednesday sack Pulis
He was the perfect fit for Stoke, look at how both have failed since he left them, some managers just seem to click at a certain club, similar to us ? Possibly but I think Dyche isca far superior manager and all round person.

Re: Sheffield Wednesday sack Pulis
He’s not a manager I like but there’s a lot more wrong at Hillsborough than the manager. They’re in a right mess and I can only see it getting worse. I’ve been a few of times over the last couple of years and apart from the team being awful, the whole place is like a crumbling museum.
It’s a real shame too, a great club with huge potential I guess but it would take massive investment now to turn it round, on and off the pitch. At least the Blades are suffering too at the moment, albeit in a different league.

Far superior all round person?
How do you come to that conclusion and what metrics are used?

Re: Sheffield Wednesday sack Pulis
I think you could be correct about it being the lack of paying the players comments from him that contributed to his dismissal. Wednesday were starting to look like they were turning the corner the last few games and two or three wins in next few weeks would probably lift them out of relegation zone.beddie wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 7:46 amHe was on tv recently and whilst not having a go at the club directly talked about the players needed paying, apparently they'd not had their full monthly wages for sometime. Pulis wasn’t a bad manager at Stoke and comparing him with Dyche is nonsensical. We can’t say Dyche is a better manager on the basis that he has only managed two clubs in his career. I am perfectly happy with Sean and what he has achieved but doubt he would succeed at a basket case club like Wednesday.

Re: Sheffield Wednesday sack Pulis
Something very strange about this surely, must be another reason for such an early sacking. Not that I would ever choose Pulis but he won’t complain, nice big pay off for a few weeks work.
One of those clubs I always see as a proper club being run by idiots. One reason why some of us are nervous about changes in our club.

Re: Sheffield Wednesday sack Pulis
Statement from their chairman with a potentially significant second sentence.
“The performances and results have not been of the level expected since Tony Pulis was appointed. There are also other issues which have had a bearing on this decision.
“On the pitch, seven points from a possible 30 is not acceptable. It is vital we maintain our Championship status and I feel I must make a change now with over half of the season remaining to give us the best possible chance of doing so.”

Wednesday are the largest of the two Sheffield clubs.
It is criminal that with their fan base that they have been languishing in league 1 and the championship for over 20 years now

Im sure Ive read that the players were paid £7,000 last month, regardless of what they were actually due.

Re: Sheffield Wednesday sack Pulis
By far the largest of the two, relegated from the Premier League in 2000 just as we were joining them in the Championship from the other end. Two relegations into League One as well.Top Claret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 9:53 amWednesday are the largest of the two Sheffield clubs.

If Stoke are anything to go by then by sacking Pulis I expect Sheffield Wednesday to have three of their top ten best ever seasons of all time before finally starting to struggle and dropping back down to their natural level.

Always liked Sheffield Wednesday over their neighbour's. We had some good games against em.. I'm sure Charlie Austin's Hat trick against them at turf moor was our last meeting.... was it 3..3??
