Twice he’s got in the way of the ball in the opening 20 minutes but not to worry, his hair looks perfect.

A couple of comments on the BBC site.

The only highlights of this game are that the ref has disrupted play three times already in this first half.

Think the ref has touched the ball more than Callum Wilson so far...

Why does this guy always have to be the star of the show.

Absolutely shocking display against us & now just a week later he gets another top flight game. Why hasn’t he be banned? or booted back down to lower leagues? He is the worst referee i have seen at this level for years.

He was allocated this match before last Sunday's cock-ups, and I doubt that they would want to make changes to officials at short notice due to the various covid protocols. It will be interesting to see where he is for the next batch of games though.

Don't worry, I don't think we'll be seeing him again unless we get relegated.

Perhaps we won't, however, he will be refereeing in the PL in the coming months.
Next week he is refereeing Manchester City v Birmingham in the FA Cup and, unless he really upsets Pep, he will be doing other PL matches

Everyone has to learn, but being arrogant when you're wrong (Leeds v Burnley) is what really p1sses people off.

They learn whilst plying their trade moving up the football pyramid, and move on to the premier league when considered good enough! Obviously he’s not up to the standard yet, a don’t know if he ever will be

All the criticism directed at a new PL referee, however, how many noticed that Anthony Taylor, a FIFA official who is regarded by many as our number 1 referee, gave a free kick for the City keeper picking the ball up from a backpass, which had been made from the halfway line? Yes, it was a correct decision, however, why did he allow Chelsea to take the free kick from outside the penalty area?

Had the keeper picked the ball up outside of the area it would have been deliberate handball and some officials may well have issued a caution. It's a strange game.

Apart from getting in the way of the ball three times, I didn't see anything wrong with Jones today. I noticed he allowed a tackle to go by as a non-penalty because the defender got the ball first before the man. Almost as if he'd learnt something.

The way that Birmingham are playing under Karanka I don't think that he will need to favour anyone! :)

I listened to the BBC commentary and Stephen Warnock who was at the Leeds and Burnley game was having a real go at Jones stating that, after he had got in the way of the ball for the third time today, he still had a long way to go before he made as many mistakes as he did at Elland Rd.

I’d still be twatting him when my knuckles were bleeding, and shouting, “ Nurse, bring me some bandages please”.. It beggars belief he was awarded another PL game so soon after the most inept performance of the season. It just goes to show that whatever they do, and however poor they are, they will always get 100% support from Mike Riley and Co.

Stick him in a black trench coat and he wouldn't look out of place as a colleague of Herr Flicks. Can imagine him slapping an arguing player with a glove and shouting "silence!" :D

I haven't seen any obvious errors reported about him today, sadly he appears to have managed the game well, this will just add fuel to the fire of Burnley moaning because we lost last week, not because the officials were incompetent or biased.

I remember he got in the way a few times at Leeds too. Once I swear he was going to do that cocky through the legs thing but backed off when Westwood was screaming at him

I know there's some very stiff competition, but Taylor is possibly my least favourite PL ref.

Moss? Some may agree with you, but by a country mile?
It's a fairly low bar, but there are a good number including Mason, Scott, Friend, Bankes and Jones, who I would rank well blow Moss.

At the end of the programme (2 good, 2 bad) they were laughing at him getting in the way of the ball three times. I've never seen anything like it. It was almost as if he thought he was playing in the game, not refereeing it.
