I'm all for good communication but Pace has made a bit of a rod for his own back here. I've seen an incredible amount of tweets directed to him about who we should be signing etc. Imagine it might not be as pleasant in a few weeks after some defeats.

I agree, fans will soon be demanding answers if the don't get what they want or argue back if they are told what they don't want to hear.

The obvious thing to do is to get a survey conducted of all key customers, including all season ticket holders, with the option of paper or electronic replies. The board could approve the questioning so that it meets their needs, then an employee could do all the legwork, including collating the replies. That way it doesn’t take much of Alan’s time. If I were Chairman that’s what I would do with urgency. Previous surveys have been OK but haven’t always asked the right questions and one senses that it was a token exercise.

There are two different “cultures” the board will want to create - one for fans who attend, the other for TV fans worldwide, both have a different set of desires which if met will maximise the growth and success of the club.

Yeah, that is my concern too. You only have to look at what the stupid ones put on here or twitter after a defeat or a transfer window and can't help but think the same people having a direct line to the chairman isn't good.

I think there's an option to turn off responses to tweets if it gets to that stage (which I hope it doesn't).

To be fair to the Ticket Office staff, most, if not all, Ticketing decisions are taken by staff higher up the decision making chain but unfortunately the TO staff are in the firing line and get all the stick.
I've always got that impression as well. So many times that problems could be avoided with a little bit of communication though.
Like the City away game just before lockdown. Club announce we've taken the full allocation but then when sales were slow early on they send a load of tickets back with no info whatsoever, before announcing its suddenly sold out.

That nails it on the head for me the way i feel about the ticket office. The newer staff have been good, however the staff that have been there years as you say have treated myself with such disregard i would have taken my business elsewhere had i not had been a fan of the club. I think they know this too.
I can honestly say that I have always found the ticket office staff and managers to be quite helpful, both on the phone and in person. Maybe I have just been lucky at the times I have needed their assistance.

That’s why his reply was great. Acknowledged it but said he can’t always do what’s asked. And not should he be expected to.

And that's just another example, as any Ticketing information (or more often than not, a lack of information) on the website etc is not done by the TO staff but by Marketing.

Happened once in 2014 and once in the coronavirus pandemic last year. I did acknowledge that the newer staff are helpful, and while i recognise that orders may come from above, they can communicate better and have a better attitude when dealing with fans. Both times did nothing to diffuse the situation, and both times served only to wind me up further. Not going into detail, it is with the SLO and has been since April last year.

Whilst not wanting to ignore or dismiss these 2 incidents, to get it in perspective, that is only twice in 6 years.

PS - Good luck with the SLO.

This is the problem with Twitter and similar online media. Attracts some complete attention seeking idiots. Might be better if there was just a business version ( there may well be). Twitter just reminds me of the likes of Trump, Piers Morgan, Sadiq Khan and Gary Lineker making pathetic comments and trying to look relevant. The you have the trying to be famous people who have breakdowns when they are criticised on it.

Thank you Leisure. I do understand what you are saying, however both times left a really bad taste and extremely upset. The first time i let go after choosing not to get a ST that year off the back of it, the 2nd time by the same people resulted in a complaint.

The options of fans should provide some helpful information but we’re ultimately talking about people’s jobs here. Some poor experiences shouldn’t be ignored but equally, they shouldn’t be the loudest voice.

Hopefully, Pace and his team will take their time to review all areas of the club for efficiencies and effectiveness, ultimately to see where we can improve. Their own views, supplemented by those from employees of the club and us as the customer.

Fans groups will presumably play an important part, but the point about the majority not being in a fans group is a good one. That’s a large voice that needs to be heard too.

Agree but not being part of a supporters club doesn't prevent fans from contacting the Burnley FC Supporters Groups and seeing if we can help with any issues which fans are having with the club. We usually meet on the 1st Monday of each month (ie tonight) and we can be contacted via the details on our Twitter account.

In 2014 I don't recall that the club had an SLO but regarding your 2nd issue, it's very disappointing that it hasn't been addressed yet.

Agreed.

I like the new style and communicating via Twitter. The previous Board were more traditional, which you have to respect (and admire their professionalism in many respects), but I do think this new approach is more modern and endearing.

Very impressed that he has responded to individual fans with some polite messages. He must be extremely busy now, so that is nice, but not sustainable. So I hope when things calm down these channels will become more about sharing information and being transparent with fans than discussion.

You will never please everybody, and different things will matter to different fans, so I really hope our fans respect his twitter channel moving forward through good times and bad.

The best feedback you'll ever get is from your customers (fans). So I hope they do try and read/listen to all views. 99% of it will be a load of old shite, but they can always pick things up that they wouldn't have otherwise thought.
I hope they don't read this Board then.......They'd be very confused!

Hopefully they take on board the views of all supporters, not just the supporters groups, they do good work, but don't represent the majority of supporters.
A questionnaire sent to all those on the clubs database would be a good starting point.
The think with the Supporters Groups is that they are there to represent any fan. A lot of good work has been done in recent years helping out groups and individual supporters with issues and being a member of any of the supporters groups hasn't been a requisite. I agree with you that a lot of good work is done, but not that they don't represent the majority of fans.

They cannot represent the majority of fans, as there are tens of thousands of fans who are not members, whereas a couple of thousand are?

Iam not knocking them, just saying they need to speak with more fans than those representing the supporters groups to get a full picture

It's numpties like that, that put the likes of Alan Pace off being more open and accessible in their comms.

They cannot represent the majority of fans, as there are tens of thousands of fans who are not members, whereas a couple of thousand are?

Iam not knocking them, just saying they need to speak with more fans than those representing the supporters groups to get a full picture
What I'm saying is they try to represent the fans. They have had a privileged position in recent years with direct communication with the club and have helped a lot of fans during that time with issues. I understand what you are saying but they don't just represent their members, they will represent any individual supporter or group of supporters. They've become more active in speaking to fans over the past couple of years and I've done my best to help with stuff on the message board, getting people's views.

That’s why his reply was great. Acknowledged it but said he can’t always do what’s asked. And not should he be expected to.
Are you going to share the letter?

Could you potentially see if CFC can put you in touch?

Seems like a race is on to be the first person to meet Mr Pace. Maybe we could have a gladiator style competition to decide.

Super fans are you ready

dont you dare...!!!

although it would be comical in an empty Turf Moor as it is now :D
It just needs adding to the fake background fan noise to come through the TV. Been to a few basketball games - the Americans love their basket/goal celebration music....... hopefully he's already on it.....
