Robbie Blake - Under The Cosh Podcast

Post by nyclaret » Tue Jan 05, 2021 10:44 pm

I'm not sure if this has been posted but this is a great watch/listen. Blakey talking about his career. Some great stories about Stan. Skip to 1 hour mark for Burnley talk.

He swears a lot doesn't he.

I conducted an interview with Robbie a couple of years ago where he was more well behaved:

There is also a Glen Little one that they did that’s worth a listen - some great stories

The glen little one is great, watched all of that. The Robbie Blake one I actually couldn't stand. Switched it off after 10 minutes. Just seemed a cock

The Ben Marshall one is funny, he’s a real fruit loop

It's a good interview, I really enjoy watching these podcasts when I get the chance, you do hear some stories that you'd otherwise have no idea about. The Glen Little interview was by far and away the best, though.

On a related note, I was watching some of the season reviews that Clarets Player have uploaded over my Christmas break. The 2003/04 season stands out for two reasons: 1. just how amazingly skilful Little and Blake were back then for that league, and 2. just how utterly appalling our defence was.

I've enjoyed a few of these, especially the one where Jon Parkin revealed that Clinton Morrison threatened to have him shot next time he turned up to play in London ....

" MoTD and 5Live summarizer made death " threat " shock ! " would be a great headline on the BBC Sport website ....

Was just about to say the same. He was desperately trying to recall further stories to fill in the time but his memory was clouded by red wine and his language deteriorated as the effort became too much.

Glen was so funny so refreshing the stories of yesterday,I have listened to them all and pay £2 a month for all the bonus episodes. The modern generation of footballers won’t have much to tell there is no drinking ect going on these days,as soon as someone puts a pint glass to there lips some goon is stood there with a camera phone.

Shameless plug (in case you missed a previous thread on the subject) but, if you enjoy Undr the Cosh (and who doesn't?) and particularly a Burnley slant - myself and two mates from work began interviewing current and ex pro's during the second lockdown out of boredom. We have had the likes of Warren Barton (Newcastle, England defender), Ben Thornley (Man United winger), Tommy Lee (Chesterfield goalkeeper) and plenty of others on so far including our very own Mark Robertson who played under Waddle and Stan. Please give it a go if you haven't :)
