Sébastien Haller to Ajax for £26 million
West ham paid £45 million for him on 2019 and now he could be on his way for just £26 million
That's a big hit for them.
That's a big hit for them.

They're lucky to get £26 million.

I didn't think Dutch football had that kind of money to spend.

I think that works out at about £3,000,000 per goal, not counting wages.
Nice work if you can get it.

Re: Sébastien Haller to Ajax for £26 million
People on this forum criticise our strikers, yet Haller cost £45m, and he's netted 10 goals in 46 games, that's less than Chris Wood has managed in each of the last 3 seasons, and Wood was only a third of Haller's transfer fee.
Joelinton's numbers are even worse 3 goals in 48 PL games, and he cost £40m, even Vydra has that many in his fleeting appearances for Burnley, he has 3 in 40, but he cost about a quarter of Joelinton's value.
To say these transfers were poor is an understatement, they were both shockers, and very expensive shockers at that.

And they no doubt had more chances than Wood, too.tiger76 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 1:46 pmPeople on this forum criticise our strikers, yet Haller cost £45m, and he's netted 10 goals in 46 games, that's less than Chris Wood has managed in each of the last 3 seasons, and Wood was only a third of Haller's transfer fee.

Re: Sébastien Haller to Ajax for £26 million
In the recent televised game v Everton, despite WHU generally playing well, he looked very poor, a big lump who didnt even run around much. WHU improved hugely in attack when Antonio replaced him on the hour.
Just looking at the BBC website's "player ratings" on that game: The WHU other personnel range from scores of 6.38 to 8.43; Haller got 5.36.
It seems he had a very decent scoring record with Utrecht and Eintracht Frankfurt but not been impressive in the EPL. WHU must be very tempted to cut their losses if a £20 mill+ bid comes in. Reputedly on £100k+ per week too.

At £45m with 10 goals in 46 games and wages of £100k per week, I think GFF is a little generous in his assessment.

"Has Ajax ever seen him play?"
Several times as he used to play for Utrecht.

Re: Sébastien Haller to Ajax for £26 million
I think it is Euros not Sterling so slightly less - West Ham seem to be clearing the decks with Snodgrass off too - they have had a share issue and borrowed a fair sum since last May, not having fans is starting to bite for them and many others
