Your Burnley XI

Post by jdrobbo » Sat Jan 09, 2021 9:14 pm

Please name what you believe is Burnley’s best XI, based on the following.

*The players are their current age
*The players have their current contract status.
* All players are fully fit
* Your XI will be fit enough to start and finish each of the next fifteen games.

Iv said this all thr way through his burnley career but vydra needs to start and play plenty of mins

I think he has the potential to be a top goalscorer for us in the prem.

I'm desperate to have McNeil in a free role, so here goes
I also know it doesn't mean anything so I've had a bit of fun, but this would be a very interesting side...

............................Pope
Lowton.......Tarks .....Mee......... Taylor
.............Benson .........Brownhill
......JBG ............McNeil ......Glennon
...........................Vydra

I’m happy with this. wood and Barnes have been so poor... JBG is close to Brady but at present Brady edges it.
Bardsley close to Lowton but currently Matt looks up for it.

Interestingly, one of the reasons I posted this thread was because Jack Cork is back in the reckoning. I truly believe Corky makes us tick, yet Brownhill and Westwood are both in good form.

I though the Burnley midfield were excellent for the first thirty minutes yesterday but then Cork, perhaps understandably, started to fade. It was pleasing to see him get 70 minutes.

Interesting that no one yet on this thread would include a fully fit Jack Cork in their eleven :?:

Westwood needs to be in for his corner delivery, if nothing else.

The football with Jay and Vyds up top is much better on the eye. I'd go with the usual line up but Vyds and Jay up top but changing it to Wood and Jay depending on the opposition

Depends on form and it’s a close call between some players such as JBG/Brady and Lowton/Bardsley. Wood is proven but at the moment is offering nothing of note.
Currently:
Pope
Lowton Tarkowski Mee Taylor
Brady Cork Westwood McNeil
Vydra Rodriguez

Agree, but it could easily gave been Brady for JBG. I thought Bards was superb today. Just love his aggression, but Lowton has better delivery.

Should be! Showed tonight why he has to start if fit. Moves the ball so much better than Brownhill.

I like Brownhill and I think he has a bright future. But Cork just gives us something glue-like in the middle of the park. He controls our tempo so effectively.

How anyone can pick Brady over JBG is beyond me but each entitled to their opinion I guess. Cork vs Brownhill a tricky one. I’d probably go with Cork - just.
