Dave Ryding attended Bishop Rawstorne High School in Croston.
The P.E. Teacher there was Steve Walsh, Chief Scout at Leicester City F.C. when Leicester won the Premier League.

I remember only too well heading down the Hahnenkamm for the first time, as a fairly young, novice skier - perhaps a week before the annual Kitzbuhel downhill. They’d been icing the run.

There was no replication of Pirmin Zubriggen (my skiing hero of the time) just a useless amateur sliding down on his arse!

Definitely not unknown for those that follow skiing and probably won’t register in the consciousness of others unless he goes on a streak of wins.
