Strange Fruit

Post by Claretforshaw » Tue Jan 12, 2021 11:58 am

Lockdown boredom gave me the urge to watch "Still Crazy" again after a gap of some years. Such an entertaining film and great performances from Stephen Rea, Billy Connelly, Jimmy Nail and especially Tim Spall, I enjoyed the music too. One to watch if you need cheering up.

If you're looking for "strange" and like Stephen Rea, try "The Butcher Boy" - very dark, but funny. Over 55? You'll be able to identify with some of it

My favourite advice regarding durians was: 'Durians look like ****, they smell like **** and they taste like ****, but if you really want to give it a try, then go for durian flavoured ice cream; that also smells and taste like ****, but it does at least look like ice cream.

Can't believe I left out Bill Nighy, great performance and excellent singing voice........in the end ! Apologies for incorrect spelling of Billy Connolly.

I'd not heard of this film before today. Written by Clement & La Frenais so surprised I have missed out. Big fan of their writing. Is it available on Netflix or another streaming network?

Very well written by those two, as you would expect. You can rent (£3.99 I think) or buy for £7.99 from Amazon Prime which I did as I know I will watch it again......and then again. Either way good value.
