He wasn’t as bad as he was on Saturday. He’s out of form and it’s fair to criticise him at the moment but I think it’s fair to say you’ve got a bit of an agenda at the moment.
I will admit I haven’t liked wood for quite a while now. Even when he was scoring never felt like he contributed to the teams performance. However I think his lack of goal scoring is highlighting how poor he is in my opinion.

Tony what is the point of doing fans match ratings if you arnt going to count ones that differ from your opinion? Defeats the point of the thread if everyone’s opinions are not taken
The only ones that aren’t counted are the ones that are outside the rating scale provided at the start of the thread. It’s been like that every single week since we started doing them. You’ve contributed to this thread loads so you know the score. If you give Wood, or any player, a 2 they won’t count. That’s just how it goes!

It was after I said il change wood to 3. Tony said he won’t count them.

I’m not his biggest fan. He goes and runs and when he’s scoring, he’s usually playing well. When he’s not a scoring run, his general game seems to drop and he quickly starts offering nothing and I think that’s where we are with him now. He’s not been good enough this season. But worth taking a step back and applying a bit of rational thinking when you’re rating. Yes, he’s not been good enough for a while and I don’t think there’s many disagreeing with the view he wasn’t good enough tonight (I don’t see a 7/10 performance in a million years but there we go) but don’t lob him a 2/10 cos it just won’t count. :-)

Considering there are 50+ ratings every game, I don’t think CT has time to go through all the comments to make sure there are any changes - he’ll take them from the template and if they are outside the ratings, he won’t take them into account.

I will go in and edit your rating though given you’ve highlighted it. :-)

Why all the fuss about Vydra when he came on?

His shot near the end was appalling!

Pope 7 (All very routine and so unfortunate with the goal)
Lowton 7 (crossing could have been better)
Tarks 7 (-1 for not scoring in added time)
Mee 8
Pieters 8
Westwood 7
Brownhill 7
Brady 5 (Tbf he did some good defensive stuff, but should have done better on the first minute when free in their box and his free kicks are nothing short of appalling. Maybe he should actually practice!!)
JBG 7 (- for not such a great second half)
Barnes 7
Wood 4 (Inept right now! Except when impersonating a donkey!)

Vydra 6 (Made a positive difference, but as mentioned above, lacks composure and snatches at chances as looks just too over eager!)
McNeil 7 (Definitely got us plating on the front foot again)

A strange game to score as we actually took the game to them early on and might have edged in front with more composure, but they gradually asserted themselves and second half it was backs to the wall stuff which we Clarets fans watch week in week out and we love as much as the players, (well I do tbh) because we're absolutely brilliant at it and I've come to regard it as a thing of beauty. Today we were so, so unfortunate to be undone by a deflection as it really was us at our annoying, belligerent, pressure absorbing, game ruining best and considering they were heading to the top of the table, they really had no answer. I'm very disappointed and feel rather sorry for us tbh. (Despite the fact that Maguire was somewhat unlucky to have his goal chalked off!)

I find it very difficult to score wood, he infuriates me.
But I get your point.
I wish we could get back the wood from the start of last season.

Don’t we all! Good chatting, thanks for taking the feedback on. Fingers crossed we can both rate him a 10 off the back of a hat trick on Saturday!

Pope 8 Didn't have much to do, but one great save in first half.
Lowton 7

Mee 8 Captain fantastic.
Pieters 7
Brady 6 Someone else needs to take free kicks.
Westwood 6
Brownhill 6 Below par tonight.
Gudmundsson 6
Barnes 7 Nice to see him complete 90 mins
Wood 3 Was he on the pitch?

McNeil 6

Only because he had to rush it, as he was being closed down. Did more in ten mins than Wood has done all season.

Vydra - 3 hands down one of the worst/inaccurate individual player ratings I have ever seen on this board

I don't - I disqualify ratings that don't fit the criteria and yours don't.

Defence and midfield both good, get our sidemen fully fit and the goals should start to come. Time to rotate our front 2

No marks did not watch or listen
Stats says zero shots on target his Wood the only player allowed to shoot what’s the rest doing apart from spectating some creative players required IMO

Pope 7 did what he could
Lowton 7 good game for him one great block
Tarkowski 8 our best player
Mee 7 bravery never in doubt
Pieters 7 kept Rashford pretty quiet
Brady 6 enthusiastic but some awful balls in
Westwood 6 grafted but overrun in 2nd half
Brownhill 6 enthusiastic as ever but as above
JBG 6 good to see him back but limited
Barnes 5 effort 10/10 but he’s lost pace and seems terribly out of depth now
Wood 4 not much service but his first touch ...

McNeil 6 livened it up

Pope - 7
Lowton - 7
Tarky - 7
Mee - 8
Pieters - 7
JBG - 6
Westy - 6
Brownhill - 5
Brady - 7
Wood - 4
Barnes - 5

McNeil - 6
Vydra - 6

Really frustrating night and again shows SD’s limitations against the ‘bigger’ teams. It’s as though he goes out to get 0-0 every time we play them. As good as we are defensively to hold out for 90+ minutes each time we play them is so difficult. He needs to have a big rethink for this weekend because Hinge and Bracket up front just ain’t working.

Pope 7
Lowton 7
Tarkowski 8
Mee 9
Pieters 6
Brady 6
Brownhill 5
Westwood 7
Gudmundsson 6
Barnes 8
Wood 4

Subs
McNeil 7
Vydra 6
Rodriguez not on long enough

High Marks for Barnes because he worked his arse off
all over the pitch and won lots of free kicks. Low marks for Wood and Brownhill. Wood needs to do more when he doesn't have the ball he looks like he is playing musical statues. Brownhill looked lost and offers little going forward, he still as no goals and no assists in 25 Premier league games.

Wow. Ive been waiting 3 months for Wood to come good. When do YOU finally lose patience, when we’re relegated?
While quickly forgetting the three years when he's proved to be the best Premier League striker we've had.

I think a lot of premier league clubs would sign wood for their squads given the chance. He's a good striker in some poor form. Barnes isn't up to this level anymore regardless of the effort he puts in unfortunately.

Good first half, but then we settled into what is becoming a familiar routine. Defend and hope to Knick one, it just doesn’t work on a regular basis especially against top teams and whilst not overrun it was inevitable that they were going to score.
Offered little up front, until, guess who came on ?

Don’t we all! Good chatting, thanks for taking the feedback on. Fingers crossed we can both rate him a 10 off the back of a hat trick on Saturday!
This has been some top class moderating. Exactly the way things should be handled.

We often bemoan, and rarely praise, but this is worthy.
