Very disappointing. Changes needed in both transfers and selection. I don’t think it’s healthy for players to know they can play **** for 3 games and still keep their place. Not healthy for the players waiting for a chance either.

Barnes 3 should be nowhere near the PL. Times is up. Even the attempts at winning free kicks ( the only thing he offers) are looking lame.
Wood 3 Abysmal. One of the porn barons’ sex dolls would have offered more up front.

Subs too late should have started as most of us knew:
McNeil 7 mom
Vydra 6
JRod 6

Dyche 3 wrong line up. His stubbornness and one tactic management along with Galick’s meanness have got us us into this mess.

What a boring predictable match.

Dyche on striker selection...

“It’s not about loyalty," he said. "It’s about players I think are playing well, players that are active, players doing the job they’re meant to do.”

I don't bother listening to him anymore, but it's absolutely incredible if he's actually said that.

What the **** is an active player? Because if you ask me to show you an inactive player, I'll sure as hell be directing you to Wood and/ or Barnes.

Something has to change, we aren't scoring goals, we aren't looking like scoring goals. That team selection today was ridiculous.

Can anyone say that either Barnes or Wood are playing anywhere near good enough to be playing atm? They're both completely shot of form and confidence.

McNeil has to start, Vydra and Jay Rod need to be given a decent go up front together. I think it's time for Jack Cork to come back in too.

No guarantees those changes will make a massive difference, but we've scored 9 goals in 17 games. We have to try something different. We're only going one way if this continues.

I’m not sure that I’d say they don’t have the ability or the legs. I’d say that they were really poor today though and we’ve a central midfield that needs improving.

Cork is by no means perfect but he’s been missed hugely.

So many problems with the team. I don't blame Wood or Barnes, they all deserve criticism. The effort is always there, but we really look clueless when we attack.
The forwards, the wide men, the midfield, the full backs couldn't make a decent pass if we were playing against a 5 a side team.
We need everybody to start thinking about the game. Find a team mate in space. If you don't have the ball make space. The balls into the box are so flat and toothless. Nobody tries to work the ball to the byline and get crosses in from out wide. We need a midfield general to organise them, and tell them when they get it wrong. Sadly we don't have anyone on the books who fits that bill.

To be fair to Brownhill, had we kept Hendrick and Cork had remained fit, I think he’d have had far fewer games and been integrated far more gradually than has been the case.

I’d love us to have more creativity through the middle with assists and goals from central midfield, but we just don’t play that way.

I dont think that we can therefore judge Brownhill on goals and assists, it’s probably not what he’s being asked to deliver.

Lowton 5 average performance but is so slow
Tarks 7 Both centre halves performed well BM just slightly better and MoM for me
Mee 8* Mom
Pieters 3 Contribution zero
Brady 5 Worked hard but has to make more impression creatively
Brownhill 5 Just seems to get caught out of position to often resulting in having to make tackles from behind
Westwood 4 I like Westy but it`s just not happening for him at the moment
JBG 4 Not producing what we know he can
Wood 4 Neither produced a performance worthy of starting a game at this level, poor service to them, yes but the ability
Barnes 4 to hold the ball up and bring other players into the game or produce any kind of threat was woeful ( Again )

McNeil 8 Has to start, end of
Vydra7 Again like Jay these lads bring something different and if we have to change our normal lump it tatics to accomodate
J Rod 6 them so be it because we look a better team with them in it

Dyche 3 for having his head so far up his own arse not be able to see his lumping it up to two totem poles tatics are blown and he needs to re-think our whole approach to games

Wood 5-do him a favour and next game bring him on from the bench. Just nothing going for him

Pope - 6 Not a lot to do but his kicking is become very concerning
Lowton - 5 tried to overlap but has not got the legs to get back
Tarky - 5 not at the races today and should have been screaming Ben’s head off for the goal
Mee - 6 couple of good interceptions but his distribution was poor
Pieters - 4 same as Lowts but his legs have gone
JBG - 4 rightly hooked at HT. 18 months ago that effort at goal would have ripped the net out. Confidence gone
Brownhill - 5 huff and puff. Needs SD to let him off the leash and try and assist the forward moves
Westy - 5 not the Ash of old. Passing poor and his lack of pace is hindering us currently
Brady - 6 deliveries and dead balls are still pants. Probably the best of the midfield 1st half
Wood - 3 no words needed
Barnes - 4 not much better

McNeil - 7 blind man on a horse could see he should be starting. Only positive on a thoroughly depressing afternoon
Vydra - 4 instead of doing nothing for 10 minutes he did it for 30 today
JRod - 4 did he touch the ball?

The buck lays at SD’s door for this. That was his team out there and his stubborn defensive mind is taking us sleepwalking in to a relegation spot. This next fortnight is the biggest 2 weeks of Sean’s managerial post in my opinion. If he doesn’t pull a couple of blinders out of the market it won’t be just the fans which are becoming vocal on our current form. Oh well it’s only Liverpool next.....

So many poor things stand out from that, I’m afraid. Firstly, it was obvious we picked the wrong team. You cannot keep picking Wood and Barnes with the former especially offering absolutely nothing to any game at the moment.

Particularly worrying for me was the laughing and joking of the players as they left the pitch. What’s all that about? Never seen that before but they looked delighted with the result and the performance.

We offer absolutely nothing going forward and 9 goals in 17 games is relegation material, no doubt about it. Too many mistakes at the back, midfield can’t pick a 5 yard pass and strikers who have no idea in front of goal. We’re in serious trouble, no doubt.
Only just realised there’s an MDWAT and DCWAT

Pope 6 - Not very busy but did what was required
Lowton 7 - Put in our best crosses, did everything he could
Tarkowski 6 - Lack of pace didn't help when the game stretched
Mee 7 - Unlucky with the goal and did better than Tarks when the game stretched
Pieters 4 - Can do a job in a defensive team, or to keep the ball with 10 mins to spare. But he cannot play full back anymore, especially when we need to break a team down.
Gudmundson 4 - Way, way off the player he was. Lost a yard and cannot beat his man anymore. I truly hope this comes back with fitness and game time.
Brownhill 5 - Wasnt great today, I think they did well to keep central areas compact, but a Defour type player would have been nice.
Westwood 5 - Same as Brownhill.
Brady 6 - He's too slow to play as a left mid, I like seeing him wide right, coming in and dictating things. Disappointed with set pieces though, agreed, but he's coming back slowly.
Wood 4 - Agreed with the notion it's time to break this partnership up.
Barnes 4 - See Wood
McNeil 6 - Needs to come back next game. Hopefully with Taylor.
Vydra 5 - Weirdly enough didn't help, they we're so deep and we we're trying to get balls in. He had one moment when he tried to develop the ball and did well.
Rodriguez 5 - Low on confidence.

We have to go Wood + Jay Rod or Wood + Vydra next game. Also as suggested before McNeil in for Johann. We didn't look like scoring at all, partly down to good defending, but also our attacking impotence.

Pope 6- Flapped a bit but not asked to do much
Lowton 6- Got some decent balls in
Tarkowski 6 Solid apart from 1 moment
Mee 6 Classic Mee at times but again the mistake
Pieters 5 - The quicker Taylor is back the better Erik cant defend as well and cant get us going forward
Brady 6 - Gets himself about and was trying
Westwood 6- Not creating enough at the moment
Brownhill 6- Tried to get us playing around the box
JBG 5- Not the same player at the moment
Barnes 4- Doesn't look like a prem footballer right now
Wood 4- I don't think he's playing as bad as some people make out, or as bad as Barnes but the ball isnt sticking , hes not winning the headers and we aren't creating enough.

Pope 6 - Did what he had to do.
Lowton 6 - A couple of decent crosses
Tarks 6 - Not sure if he shouted for the goal, apart from that was generally solid
Mee 6 - Should've let Tarks head the cross for the goal clear. Not sure if he got a shout.
Pieters 5 - Poor. Bowen had him all game.
Brady 5 - Woeful set-pieces. Improved a bit 2nd half.
JBG 5 - Non existant.
Westwood 5 - Offered nothing
Brownhill 5 - Same as Westwood
Wood 3 - Totally devoid of confidence. Playing like he's never seen a football before.
Barnes 3 - Contributed sod all. Lost count of the amount of times he lost the ball

McNeil 7 - Did more in 45 mins than the rest of the team did in 90.
Vydra 5 - Meh. Did OK not the magic answer some seem to think
Jay 5 - Tried to link it up, was ok.

Worrying game as West Ham played in 1st gear and handled us no problem. We could be still be playing now and wouldn't have scored. Something needs to change fast, and I don't think it'll be new players as I'm not confident the money is there.

The negligence of the past few transfer windows is coming home to roost. Pedestrian, one dimensional, predictable performance.

We are too easy to play against. Play a high line and negate the front 2 with the exception of set pieces. Press the midfield and they will either go back to the centre half or keeper or they will lose possession and then launch your own attack. Major surgery required on that team. Lowton, Pieters, Brady, JBG, Barnes and I would suggest one of Westwood and Brownhill all need to be upgraded.

This is absolutely spot on. I think we possibly have the worst CM pairing in the league. The disappointing thing is we don’t have much better on the bench.

For me a CM that can pass and dribble with the ball is an absolute must this window.

I think if Brady can stay fit, him and McNeil will provide enough quality ball from wide. It’s just whether we can pass the ball quick enough to allow them space.
