Post by Ptangyangkipperbang » Sun Jan 17, 2021 6:48 pm

Just heard legendary producer has passed away a flawed genius to say the least and died in prison after being convicted of murder. On the back of New York Dolls guitarist Sylvain Sylvain passing away on Friday

I enquired about a Spector related promotional LP I had stumbled across on Facebook in a vinyl / record collecting group.
Received dogs abuse for taking an interest in a murderer.
Subsequently quit the group.

He was certainly a flawed genius.

His `wall of sound` production work was quite superb. Made a lot of what would have been average songs into excellent tracks.

Was only listening to a compilation album he produced the other day.

He wasn't a flawed genius, he was an abused genius.

He used to say to reporters " you wouldn't want my life "

And he wasn't a fan of albums. Couple of hits and the rest just fillers was how he described them. A 'troubled soul', no doubt and very dangerous but a prodigious music producer.

I still have that LP, in an unusual coloured vinyl.
He had a hand in the original version of Twist And Shout by The Top Notes, before The Isley Brothers or Beatles.

Hope the Swiss maid doesn't become a little town flirt, runaway and go searching. Goodness knows what'll be off if she bumps into Larry.
