I'm not going out so I just get some Bury Black Pudding on my Tesco order.
I had some of the Scottish black pudding from Tesco the other week, it was very tasty.

The Wee Black pudding it was called.

Yes, I thought it it was a very good opening episode.

So much so I've offered to watch it again tomorrow with Mrs VC so we can watch the rest of the series together :-)

the internet stopped working Saturday evening in the middle of a Netflix movie, technician been and repaired today, so back up and trying to catch up on many things, but good excuse this morning to not work for a while.

Yet definitely felt a little lost without it, makes you wonder what we did before it was available to the masses, is there anything else in our lives that has made such a difference to us?

My Dad's answer when posed this question a few years ago was 'central heating'.

He remembered being puzzled when visiting a friends house where their teenage children all were. "In their bedrooms" was the mundane reply but if you grew up or have ever lived in a house with no central heating you'll know how uncomfortable it is to be away from the hearth.

Just the one.

It's a easy drinker, too.

Agree central heating wonderful. No more roating near the fire or freezing in back of the room. No more breathing soot outside and soot inside if fire 'blew back'. No more newspaper catching fire when being used as a fire drawer. No more scraping faces on of bedroom window INSIDE. No more freezing or getting g soaked going out to coal shed to fill the bucket. No more looking down on those who bought fire lighters, usually Southereners or Yorkies, who can't properly light a fire with newspaper twists, spindle wood and coal. Hell I'm nearly missing the the open fire....like hell I am!

Nah, not keen on kitchen gadgets as a rule. I've roasted the spuds properly and wouldn't want to ever do otherwise so the oven's already on. Makes no sense to not put the sausages in too.

Open fires and/or stoves burners are brilliant luxury - IF you don't have to rely on them as your sole source of heat.

If they're your primary way of keeping warm they're a burden, a mess and pain.

What’s that IPA like mate? I love IPA’s, but that looks like a stout/porter and I’m not keen on those at all. Just read up on it though and it says if you close your eyes it’s like an IPA?!? :? :?

Do like Proper Job & Korev when I’m in Cornwall though.

Genuinely very nice and would recommend it strongly.

I'm not a fan of people mucking about with beer. If it's got fruit or an additional flavouring in there then I don't normally bother.

This, being a mix of stout/porter and IPA isn't something I'd have plumped for. It was a gift.

But it's jolly nice. Give it a go. Two thumbs up from me.

We were without the internet for almost three weeks until we got a new provider on Christmas Eve. We don't have a TV aerial on our roof so even the TV signal is dodgy through an indoor antenna. It does make you wonder how we got through without it. No Netflix, no iPlayer.
We do all our shopping online, banking online. Bills etc.
Of course there are ways around it and we had to resort to using the internet on the phone but only as a last resort.
Huddling around the TV trying to find a channel with reception was a challenge but a real treat came out of it.
Discussing what we did when we were younger before the internet. The discussion got onto board games etc. Draughts (Checkers), chess, ludo, shuffleboard, Rummikub, Test Match etc all brought back happy memories of cold nights.
They're now all in the Amazon 'saved basket' to be purchased on the internet. Hope we get them before the next time it goes down.
