Can you score direct from a goalkick?
This stood so you must be able, but for some reason I thought a goal kick needed a second touch?
Anyway, enjoy.

You can score from a goal kick but I bet it doesn’t happen very often.

Perhaps the law changed with the 'ball not having to leave the area' nonsense?
I always assumed it was an indirect kick.

Re: Can you score direct from a goalkick?
The ball has to strike another player if kicked out from a dead ball situation ie goal kick
If the ball goes down the pitch and hits no one its not a goal
The interesting one if the keeper kicks out
goal kick into the wind and the ball catches the wind and sails back over his head into his own goal
Correct award? corner

Re: Can you score direct from a goalkick?
You are correct that it’s a corner if it sails back over his head but if he punts it up the pitch into the goal at the other end it counts, it doesn’t need to touch anyone.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 9:08 pmThe ball has to strike another player if kicked out from a dead ball situation ie goal kick

Re: Can you score direct from a goalkick?
What if the goalkeeper deliberately punts his own goal kick into the net. Is that still only a corner?

The ball doesn’t have to strike another player once the ball is in play. The goal standsWoodleyclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 9:08 pmThe ball has to strike another player if kicked out from a dead ball situation ie goal kick

You are correct if the wind blows it back as an own goal, it is a corner

We know mate, no need for the big **** off picture that can't even adequately show something linked in the OP.

What's a goal ?
Re: Can you score direct from a goalkick?
How long is it that this rule has been in place? I was always under the impression that a goal couldn’t be scored, direct from a goal kick?
Either there has been a change or I have always been wrong!!

Re: Can you score direct from a goalkick?
Ignore me - I’m stupidly confusing this with offsides from a goal kick.

Re: Can you score direct from a goalkick?
Is it possible for a goalkeeper ( or anybody) to actually kick a ball the full length of a pitch , without bouncing, in calm conditions ?

Re: Can you score direct from a goalkick?
I’m not sure, but Bosscat posted the proof at 21.14, so it’s been in place for at least 9 minutes.

Can I suggest Chris Wood take the Goal kicks from now on...
Re: Can you score direct from a goalkick?
He’d still find himself offside

I thought one of our keepers did this in the 60's for some reason against chorley. CT will know.

Re: Can you score direct from a goalkick?
Not entirely true.CharlieinNewMexico wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 11:37 pmYou can’t score an own goal direct from your own goal kick because the ball has not left the area and gone into play. Hence corner. Slightly off topic before someone says that’s not the question
The new law on goal kicks stipulates that the ball is in play when it is kicked and moves, the ball no longer has to leave the area.x
The reason you can’t score an own goal from a goal kick is because it says so in law, just as it says for a corner (if you could kick it that far), and for a free kick.
