Re: Pool vs The Clarets
Why don't we all calm down and wait and see what our strikers can do with service from a rejuvenated Dwight and Charlie.

Re: Pool vs The Clarets
What do Wood and Barnes have to do to be dropped, if we're going to persist with these 2 then for heaven's sake let's play to their strengths and get plenty of crosses into the box, we've got Dwight & Robbie in the wide areas, and Charlie back as well, so there's no excuses for not at least making the Liverpool defence actually do some defending tonight, Matip & Fabinho should be a pairing we can get at, if of course we can get enough of the ball, that could prove problematic in itself.
No Henderson in their squad either I notice, he'll be a big miss for them, as he's often their driving force.

Re: Pool vs The Clarets
Come on Wood & Barnes! I’m sure they’ll improve the more games they play. They are not bad players, you know.

Disgusting from Dyche not even trying to change it. No other manager would stick with these 2 given the goal draught and the fact Dyche doesn't nor change formation is the exact reason he hasn't gone to a bigger club nor likely too

SD's faith that Wood and Barnes can still pull it off (so to speak ) may ultimately be our complete undoing because I for one have lost patience with them and that's speaking as a long time Barnes fan! But SD and Barnes have both given us a great journey and I just hope SD's right and I'm wrong (again!) Very good news re Taylor I feel!!

Re: Pool vs The Clarets
Currently overcast, 1 degree feeling like minus 5 here in SW Ontario. Not a bad day for this time of year, scattered flurries forecast for later in the day.
Good to see Taylor back, we obviously need him to play well today, hopefully linking up well with McNiel. Looks like a strong bench today, however how the bench will be used is another story Surely Dyche will have the gonads to pull Wood if he continues to perform at his season long abysmal level.
One positive is we seem to play quite well against 'Pool, fingers crossed.
Prediction 1- 2.

Re: Pool vs The Clarets
Who does he bring in? The striker who hasn't scored in 20+ PL outings or the guy who hasn't scored in 20++ PL outings? None of the 4 main strikers had a good 2020 after the 1st lockdown.DomBFC1882 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 7:24 pmDisgusting from Dyche not even trying to change it. In fairness CT, that really isn't saying much when you glance at the "goals for" column. Especially as those 2 have been on the field roughly 98% of the time!ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 7:27 pmNo - I wouldn't have played 2 non-scoring strikers. Re: Pool vs The Clarets
No it isn't saying much but I believe Wood is always the more likely to score. I think Barnes could cause them some problem at the back with their current situation, although Matip is back.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 7:29 pmIn fairness CT, that really isn't saying much when you glance at the "goals for" column. Re: Pool vs The Clarets
Full strength bench as well, come on you Claaaaaaaarrrrrreeeeeeeetttttttssssssss
Re: Pool vs The Clarets
Please would everyone stop quoting the number of games played and actually focus on minutes on the pitch. If you’re only on the pitch for 5 minutes here and there you’re not likely to score. It’s as simple as that.
Wood and Barnes have been horrific this season and should be on the bench.

It's an absolute joke to have a dig at Jay and Vyds when they have had nowhere near the same amount of minutes as Barnes and Wood. Why are the other 2 there if they don't even get a game despite the dreadful form of the 2 big lads. Embarrassing.

Perhaps we could bring Bailey Peacock-Farrell on for the last five minutes of every game and celebrate when he inevitably wins the golden glove?DomBFC1882 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 7:35 pmThis. His stats would surely show that he’s better than Pope.

Don’t use twitter but fans aren’t concerned about the defence but the attack where we have a problem.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 7:02 pmInteresting that on Twitter the first thing people complain about is that Wood and Barnes are starting - and don't realise or aren't bothered that Taylor is back.

Re: Pool vs The Clarets
Taylor back, McNeil starts, Brady wide right - you can see why he'd stick with Wood and Barnes as we ought to be set up to give them the kind of service that's been lacking - Klopp's pre-match suggests he's expecting it to be a physical battle for his centre backs so assume we're going to see a lot more crosses going into the box than has been the case in recent weeks

The current lack of goals is a huge worry especially considering we rarely get them from anywhere else on the pitch. Westwood no, Brownhill no, mcneil not really etc etc

Re: Pool vs The Clarets
The only saving grace is I think we’ll get pumped in this game whoever plays up top so perhaps it’s best to not start Vydra and Jay Rod and they can be spared some grief at least.

Re: Pool vs The Clarets
It's not April or May and I wouldn't expect them to be in the team then if they still hadn't scored again. I don't think Jay Rod is fully fit to be honest so for me it is very much the correct decision to play Wood and Barnes.box_of_frogs wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 7:32 pmWould you say that in April or May if they still haven’t scored again? Re: Pool vs The Clarets
I've come to the conclusion that the only reason Dyche is picking Wood and Barnes every game is to show how much we need new signings. There is no other logic, given recent performances and the general feeling from our fans ..... "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results" .... and guess what, so far we haven't seen any kind of different result!!
Tonight was a chance to try something different. The fact Liverpool are so depleted might be our chance and I am so glad Taylor and McNeil are starting. In terms of Wood and Barnes, I hope Dyche has pulled off a masterstroke keeping them up top ..... 90 mins will tell ...... COYC

Sort of game we could win or get mauled in... I’m going to say it’s time for another bounce back Burnley win with JK’s teeth on full view as he spits his dummy out about something we’ve done to rob them.

Well done for getting away with 'pool vs The Clarets, FF. That's more than I could do, which seems to make it personal, unfortunately.
Anyway, 3 points to us and probably, for a fleeting moment, here is the lass to spur us on.

Dyche thinks that Wood and Barnes are our best forwards and present our biggest chance of winning points. It’s pretty simple. Re: Pool vs The Clarets
Barnes is now so bad the only thing he does in 80mins is back in to defenders and attempt to win freekicks, and he does that badly too. Flapping about on the ground and waving this arms around is despair moaning. He’s actually a disgrace to the Premier League. He’s finished. Anyone that disagrees is deluded
Re: Pool vs The Clarets
Good evening all from the Coconut Coast,
I know most on here want changes at the front (me too) but let’s get behind the lads as if we were there, it’s not one we’d be expected to win anyway, so might prove to be a confidence boost for Wood &Barnes.
