I said to get him off at half time for fear of a 2nd yellow.

Better performance after the break!

Barnes did well tonight but for those of you thinking he is the second Messi, one swallow doesn’t make a summer. He has been pretty shite all season. I’m glad he did what he did tonight and it was a fabulous result with a great team performance, but we still need a striker and he should not be on the team sheet every week. The problem is we could sign the best striker in the world, Dyche would still start with Barnes.

Thank god someone has been some context to it. He was decent tonight but let's be honest he scored a penalty and not from open play. It's still a worry is the lack of goals from the strikers

This was always a game that we needed Wood and Barnes for.

I nearly cocked up big time - the "Burnley to win and both teams to score" should have been a straight Burnley to win bet but I must've clicked on the wrong ferkin button. Thank Dyche I got the correct score one right or it wouldn't taken a tinsy bit of the gloss off this magnificent win.

Ash harried them, worried them and hurt them. You don't take such a player off.

Rumour has it, the Wrench and Numbers beat from Fargo plays in the Enemies heads when Barnes and Wood walk on the pitch

Exactly the kind of game that suits Barnes, and no van Dijk to boot. Hopefully his goal means he starts scoring again.

Check out "a thought for sunday dropping Barnes"
😂😂😂😂😂

Oh dear, another excuse to have a silly pop - on tonight of all nights !

I wasn't arguing against the fact that, yes, I did like a post advocating Barnes be dropped, I was saying that after a win at Anfield and picking up a decent sum from Mr. Coral, I don't feel like hanging my head in shame or anything else.

Lighten up, buddy, the criticism of Barnes was part of the master plan to get him fired up again. Obviously.

A beautiful evening, ending their unbeaten home record, moving further away from the bottom 3, £200 profit from 2 singles on the match and no hangover. Reading the match thread with comments that even picking Barnes is disgusting makes the morning coffee taste even sweeter.

The only negative anyone should have from last night is the fact fans weren't there.

Hopefully last night can be the catalyst for Barnes to go on one of his runs. He has tended to be quite a streaky striker for us historically, so it wouldn't surprise me.

I thought he was excellent last night against Matip and Fabinho, they really struggled with his 'tricks'.

I wanted Dyche to change either Barnes or Wood. Watching last night I thought they both put a shift in and defended from the front. I doubted either looked like scoring in open play but for effort they both were 9 out of 10 for me and both can have a rest at the weekend and start the next League game UTC

This.

Absolutely this.

Moments like this are what make all the bad results and crap performances and awful away days worthwhile. That anfield rd end would’ve been absolutely bouncing and it’s a crying shame all of us couldn’t be there.

I was worried before the game about which version of the two teams turned up. Seems the right two versions showed up...

I recently read a quote from Andy Lochhead. "My job isn't to score goals, my job is to unsettle the opposition". I think that job description perfectly suits Barnes, "to unsettle the opposition".

Barnes has been at Turf Moor for seven years; seven history making years for both him and our Club.
Love him. Cherish him. He is a Burnley FC Great.

For all those who wanted to drop him F U A
well done man for starting this thread. the embarrassing idiots who are always getting on someone's back is the reason a lot of people don't use this board anymore. Barnes is a true claret and he is what we are all about. Thank God Dyche sticks to his guns and hopefully he doesn't read this board. Disgraceful comments in the last few weeks. Call yourself clarets. I would put it down to the school holiday's but i get the impression a lot of you are sad old men.

Ash was brilliant tonight as always, perhaps on 2 or 3 occasions recently should have been subbed on 70, purely because of his work rate and the fact you can only flog a willing horse for so long, but fact is if there's one thing you get from him it's 100% it's not been going for him recently but that's only because he's had next to nothing to work with up top, wood has been so far off the pace recently and should be dropped, yes he was slightly better last night but still not there, he needs a reality check in my opinion. I suspect we might get the change many of us have been asking for on Sunday and jrod and vyds will get their chance given last night's tough game, by all means give one of these 2 their chance moving forward but please don't take our Ash away, utc's

Of course he would. It was Mike Dean. He absolutely loves winding fans up, and as a Tranmere fan, I suspect he would particularly enjoy winding LFC fans up.
Anyway, VAR would have had to give it I think.

I was thinking SD was going to substitute Barnes at half time, being yellow carded and involved in that incident at half time.

However, I don't think the gaffer saw it as he was already down the tunnel, with Klopp chasing after him (until he turned round).

Credit however to Barnes for keeping his head cool, he got his reward at the end.
