So whilst you was out working as an example & your house got raided & your prized Rolex’s got stolen we’ll call it Cartier for the pain & you get home & discover the loss, do you consider yourself lucky that you wasn’t in the house? I’d consider myself unlucky for being burgled in the first place with robbery you’ve actually got a chance of defending your prized possessions albeit running the risk of something bad happening. I’d rather face a problem head on when I could be in control. There’s no good luck involved at any level when faced with theft of any description in fact exactly the opposite.Burnley Ace wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 10:27 pmI would rather my pocket was picked than someone break into my house at night, torture me and then empty my safe. That’s why there are different words and different levels of punishment.

Hope they get the stuff back, I know that a lot off building plant that gets stolen is redeployed via a place in Huncoat and a place near Deadwood.

Re: Lowerhouse CC robbery
This thread is truly pathetic and in many ways shows what this board has become.
Ringo nails it; who gives a flying *+%# what the crime was, it’s a crime and a local volunteer run community asset has been the victim of it. Amidst a pandemic that had seen it closed for all but 3 months it’s a pretty major blow.
HOPEY, on behalf of the club, posted on this board seeking help and within a handful of posts (some humerous and in good spirit) have had someone jump in to correct the use of language and that had subsequently descended into an embarrassing @“() swinging contest.
Pathetic, grow up.

One poster side tracks the thread with sad pedantry. The other poster points it out. The first poster cannot control the reflex of reacting to his thinly veiled personal, resentment of forever being on the losing side of an argument . While at the same time being fully conscious that the other poster was on the victorious side.THEWELLERNUT70 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 12:42 amI'm surprised that people are still taken in by the pair of pillocks that have littered the thread with their usual nonsense.

I guess those complaining about what's being discussed on this thread haven't realised that by doing so, it's kept the thread near the top of the board and in people's mind, and not disappearing onto page 2 of this board and not being read
More people will now be aware of the crime, and it might just come to the notice of someone who can help catch the thieves and possibly recover the stolen items
Just give it a thought when you try to shut people up.

A lot of crimes contain elements of other crimes, such as a burglary where they break a window to get in a house and steal the telly. It will be classified as a burglary, but using your example it would also be criminal damage and theft?Garnerssoap wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 10:42 pmThe other is actually assault, false imprisonment and possibly kidnapping.

A lot of robberies involve assaults, but only robbery would be charged

it wasn't pointing out that it was a burglary that was pedantic; it was all the afterfluff.

I point out that the title is incorrect and then get personal abuse from the usual “bullies” and I’m in the wrong? “Burglary at Lowerhouse CC” that’s all it needed.

It makes them feel happy and important, as it's the only way they could ever bully someone, from behind a keyboard.Burnley Ace wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 9:38 amI point out that the title is incorrect and then get personal abuse from the usual “bullies” and I’m in the wrong? “Burglary at Lowerhouse CC” that’s all it needed.

See, this is the thing, you must have absolutely zero self awareness. It didn’t need pointing out, it was irrelevant to the purpose of the thread.Burnley Ace wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 9:38 amI point out that the title is incorrect and then get personal abuse from the usual “bullies” and I’m in the wrong? “Burglary at Lowerhouse CC” that’s all it needed.

The thread is now on its second page, near the top, which more people will read, and increase the possibility of stuff being returned. All due to the discussions, which you obviously disagree with.
We could all shut up as you would like, the thread would slowly disappear to page 2,which nobody ever reads, and the possibility of getting anything back reduces.

You can’t change the question to fit your answer.

You’re now up to £760 plus vat . I really do need to insist on a payment on account or I may well claim a pedantry uplift.

Re: Lowerhouse CC robbery
I tried explaining all this in simplistic terms, it’s almost as if gratitude needs to be expressed because a burglary took place instead of a robbery, like the victim seeks solace & can just forget what’s happened & can almost categorise the crime into some sort of a grading system, it’s become inexplicable that a silver lining doesn’t exist when anybody unfortunately falls victim to theft.Garnerssoap wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 5:50 pmNope, your example of tying someone up at gunpoint does not involve robbery or now criminal damage and theft.
