Everton fans at work seem unduly disturbed at this, rumours have been circulating on Merseyside for a couple of weeks that their fella is going. Can't see it myself.

Re: Lampard to be sacked
Raff Honigstein has said it will be Tuchel.
That’s as good a confirmation as you’ll get I’d guess.

Re: Frank Lampard
I thought he might have be given a little longer but guess the new coach is already lined up.

Re: Frank Lampard
Not very patient at Chelsea however anyone who spends money on the likes of Havertz and Werner and doesn't get them firing won't last long at all.

Definitely wont be Rafa. I think an announcement will be pretty quick. Lampard has been under real pressure lately and it has shown in his interviews.

It was mooted they'd want a German speaking coach to get the best out of werner and the other expensive lad.

Re: Lampard to be sacked
It seemed like a sentimental appointment at the time but until the past few games he has done better than I expected. He is trying to bring on a young team and that will always mean ups and downs. Very sad that it seems he will not be given the chance to see it through, but that’s Chelsea for you

They obviously timed the sacking to avoid the 'embarrassment' of being beaten by Burnley on Sunday.....

Re: Lampard to be sacked
Apparently the senior players went to the top to express their discontent. I didn't rate Lampard as a manager but if true this does not sit comfortably with me at all. They are the Real Madrid of England.

Re: Lampard to be sacked
You say he never learns, but since Abramovich bought Chelsea, no other club in England has won as many major trophies. So despite the ruthless nature of his ownership, you'd have to say it's a policy that has worked.

No it’s not good, but lampard cannot complain, himself and John Terry had been accused of doing exactly the same, in their time as Chelsea players!gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 11:12 amApparently the senior players went to the top to express their discontent. Good point. 2 wrongs don't make a right however, players complaining damned unitedesque make me loathe the club in question.

Whilst not surprising find it very scummy when the press run the story before the club confirm it, but then when you look at the club it is quite appropriate.

What do you expect them to do? Not put it on their channels? Only the club to blame!claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 11:27 amWhilst not surprising find it very scummy when the press run the story before the club confirm it, but then when you look at the club it is quite appropriate.

Abramovich Statement
“This was a very difficult decision for the Club, not least because I have an excellent personal relationship with Frank and I have the utmost respect for him’.
“He is a man of great integrity and has the highest of work ethics. However, under current circumstances we believe it is best to change managers.
“On behalf of everyone at the Club, the Board and personally, I would like to thank Frank for his work as Head Coach and wish him every success in the future. He is an important icon of this great club and his status here remains undiminished. He will always be warmly welcomed back at Stamford Bridge.”

Re: Lampard to be sacked
Hmmm, so we’re Tuchel’s second game, presumably? Maybe first, depending how quickly they announce that they’ve been lining up his replacement.
Annoys me when we play a team in a rut, just as they’ve got a new manager to play for!

Re: Lampard to be sacked
Shouldn’t he have to self isolate when he comes over from Germany ? Or do rules not apply to them ?

Abramovich has spent 110million on manager payoffs...... not including whatever Lampard is going to get...............

The Athletic was reporting Lamps had wanted to bring in Rice and Tarks in this window...wonder if that could progress with new Coach.

Re: Lampard to be sacked
Ludicrous decision to sack him but he was never proven. Only getting Derby to 6th with Mount, Wilson and Tomori all in on loan was poor management in my opinion. He got the usual media love-in because of his name and Derby's win at OT in the cup.

Re: Lampard to be sacked
So I'm wondering where he does now.
Half decent record in the championship, but that's tempered by being unable to manage high profile and expensive players in the PL.
He's shown he can do a job, just needs to find a level that suits him.
Celtic it is then
