Jack Cork for right midfield?
Jack Cork for right midfield?
He looked very comfortable with that pinpoint right footed cross for Rodriguez. Maybe we already have the solution to our right sided midfield problem (to the end of the season at least)?

We need pace out wide and for all Jack's undoubted qualities, that isnt one of them

Re: Jack Cork for right midfield?
There’s a hell of a difference between happening to be be stood on the right side at that moment and getting a cross in and actually being a right winger

Re: Jack Cork for right midfield?
I must admit it was a bit of a ‘desperate’ suggestion but he is a quality player with a good football brain and teamed up with a pacey overlapping right back I think he could fill in at right midfield if injuries and poor form severely restrict our options.

Re: Jack Cork for right midfield?
Jack Cork steps straight back into central midfield in place of Brownhill
Josh as done well but imo he is not yet quite ready for Premier league football, he needs to improve his offensive play
Can't believe anyone would suggest Jack for right side midfield when we have had problems with central midfield all seasons. Brownhill and Westwood have just not been createive enough and they don't work together

Unfortunately we don't have a pacy overlapping right back. In fact we don't have a pacy anything.

Re: Jack Cork for right midfield?
No. We need to be signing round pegs for round holes. We will not improve the side if we attempt to accommodate and play people out of position. At this rate we'll have 11 Graham Branch's and people will say we are "flexible".

Brownhill is better than cork. Offensively as well. One or two crosses from cork mean nothing. Brownhill is more athletic and his numbers show he is more effective.

I'd chance him at right back for a game or two maximum..... not quite enough pace or trickery for the wing, every winger has one or the other and Jack has neither

I think we should rotate Cork Brownhill and Westwood
Westwood looks like he needs a rest and Brownhill will need one sooner or later
Right now I would play Cork and Brownhill and bring Westwood back when one of the other two tire

Westwood is the best midfielder at the club
I honestly believe in a better team he would be even better than he is now. He is technically excellent and one of our best crossers of the ball at the club

Couldn't agree more, can't imagine anyone would want to leave him out.
Re: Jack Cork for right midfield?
I said something very similar a few weeks ago on a thread. As a Mod and also the main guy you would think it best to encourage peoples opinions so we can have an interesting forum with different perspectives and debates. It's fine for CT to disagree with the OP but why then belittle him.
I've been a long time poster on here and I was a long time poster on Clarets mad before that and one of the greatest things about our forums is that we have always had good contributions from different people and it has always felt inclusive! I signed up to Clarets mad when i was 13 (I'm 28 now) and honestly I probably posted some right rubbish (I still do ) But I always felt welcome. Clarets mad went down the tubes and this board was created and it's been fantastic. Recently though I feel its lost some of that inclusive feeling and feels a little "clicky" at times. If I joined this board at 13 now Im not sure after a few posts if I'd come back!
I go on football forums to read differing opinions to my own, so I can offer and listen to some debate as to why we think the way we do.I want that to continue for everyone's sake, otherwise it will get boring fast. I want this forum to carry on being a great place where people are not insulted for having a differing opinion but reasoned with and debated instead!

No one has been insulted. The OP starts numerous threads with strange ideas and I responded with this latest one. It's not a problem with me, not a problem with the OP but a problem with others. Shame really, but this is what ruins debates on here.Conroy92 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 6:22 pmI said something very similar a few weeks ago on a thread. Re: Jack Cork for right midfield?
It's a nice dilemma for SD to have choosing between Cork and Brownhill. Agree with above. Westwood is excellent in our midfield. Maybe would open opportunities for a three man midfield too.
I would be less keen on playing Cork, Brownhill, Benson, Pieters on the right unless we're in an injury crisis again. In fact. I hope we never have to again but when needs must and only when needs must.

You've all been so busy arguing about whether Cork should play right midfield or centre midfield you've missed the bleeding obvious. We should play Cork left midfield so he can cut in on his right and cause all sorts of problems for the opposition

Firstly, you sample is over what period? Have you factored in the opposition quality in the stats? His midfield partner during the sample? It would take a very capable mathematician to draw up a model you could then present as fair and accurate.
I am guessing you’re not a capable mathematician and have acquired those stats from a third party. In which case you should really be more careful where you get your information from, I should know.
Secondly, on the thread you’re referring to, I mentioned that I feel Brownhill is a better player due to his interception stats, he is defensively, mentally and physically a step ahead of all our other midfielders.
Thirdly, my response, and not to you, was to someone saying Brownhill isn’t ready for the premier league. If that’s their honest thought, yes they need to give their head a wobble.
You’re not a very nice person, and seek to fall out with anyone and everyone. We’re all here for you, lockdown is tough on us all.

I have compared the stats of Corks premier league career against Brownhills. The simplest form of comparison possible,
I am not trying to fall out with anyone. You asked what sample size I used and I replied.
The stats show that we score less goals with Brownhill in the team not sure how you can argue otherwise.

Re: Jack Cork for right midfield?
When Westwood arrived from Villa he spent 18 months coming off the bench or not even in the squad, because Sean Dyche didn't think that he wasn't quite right for Premier league football. I am sure that this would have applied to Brownhill but for the injury to Jack Cork.
Brownhill was thrown in at the deep end due to our lack of CM players, he has done OK but is short of filling such an important role for a mid table Premier league side.
Josh needs naturing and now Cork is back Sean and the coaching staff can spend more quality time with him to make him into a better all round player, in doing this he will spend more time on the bench than off it
