A dreadful half. Two postives - Pope and we're only one down.
Wood needs to come off and stay off, offering absolutely nothing. Time to give him a run on the bench.

Mee Brownhill Wood really poor so far. Villa defence untroubled, easily coping with lump ball.

Villa certainly have the beating of us this year. I imagine they've talked a lot in the last week about how much they deserved the win at their gaff. Really look up for it. We are 16/1 to turn this around, which shows you how one sided the bookies have it! Let's hope Sean gets into them at HT, a draw here would be excellent.

I’m sorry but no one can convince me Brownhill is premier league quality. He just offers nothing at all.

Incredibly we’re still in it. Villa have some good young players and play football. We’re by and large a bunch of old triers with a single tactic. “Have it” football.
Re: The Mighty Clarets v The Villains (matchday thread)
Hard to imagine the same players defended so well against Man U. and Liverpool

No wonder some of the villa players are laughing as they go off, I wonder if Dyche will pull his head from up his arse and change it for the second half because God knows it`s needed. Cork, Bardsley, Gudmunnson please

Poor showing. No bite or creativity in the middle. Give them a bollocking then give it 10 minutes before subs if there's no improvement

Aston Villa are everything we are not. Guile and Creativity in every position backed up by a solid backbone. Attacking full backs doing the job on us on both sides. We're literally frightened.
Glad we're only 0-1 down, we are going to need to significantly change in the second half even to maintain the defecit.
Common Burnley, step up your game!

Standard performance when we go behind. Start brightly, probe and start to ask a few questions. Concede. Fall apart.
But crikey this Villa side spend more time on the floor than anyone - even Arsenal

Wood Brownhill and Lowton need hooking. We need to change our approach as we are giving them nothing to think about and they are in total control.

Re: The Mighty Clarets v The Villains (matchday thread)
Need a rocket under them at half time. Looked to have slipped back into going through the motions. No energy no organisation. We knew Aston Villa’s midfield was strong yet we seem to have no plan other than hoofing it to deal with them. Really need to rouse them and go for it.
Re: The Mighty Clarets v The Villains (matchday thread)
What worries me is that Tarks and Mee are defending space with 10 yards between them and that Watkins just sits in there between them
They are good
But we are making them look even better

Awful display from us,changes needed soon.
Re: The Mighty Clarets v The Villains (matchday thread)
We're chasing shadows, we have not taken a battering like this since Man City, how is it only 1-0
Re: The Mighty Clarets v The Villains (matchday thread)
I can't see a way back for us if we keep the tactics the same, over to you Sean.

Re: The Mighty Clarets v The Villains (matchday thread)
Grealish, Barkley and Traore are proper midfielders, our lads aren't in the same street. Mind you, Westwood has perfected the long ball forward for a goal kick to them. If being saying for many months on here we need a new midfield, nothing has changed my mind. Villa, though, are very good to watch.

Re: The Mighty Clarets v The Villains (matchday thread)
I’d put jbg on for Brady, then possibly vydra for wood, though there is an argument for cork for wood and push McNeil and jbg on, but don’t think dyche does 4-3-2-1

Indicates the depths of our our problems if we’re relying on that trio to change games. This Villa side couldn't buy a goal last year. They are looking very impressive. The big question is how long do they hold on to Grealish and Watkins.

Re: The Mighty Clarets v The Villains (matchday thread)
Some shocking performances when you see what some of our guys earn. Villa should be 3-0 up. They are so superior than us. We are showing no fluidity. Time for SD to earn his corn at half time, and ring the changes early. I hope we see Cork, Vydra, and JBG on , sooner rather than later and Wood, Brady and Brownhill off. Save them for Chelsea. Their centre halves have got Wood and Jay in their pockets

Re: The Mighty Clarets v The Villains (matchday thread)
Glad I'm not Dyche because I honestly don't know where I'd go with this one right now. Probably take off Wood and Brady and bring on long and Dunne and give ourselves an outside chance of keeping the score down. Otherwise call it 1-0, shake hands, get changed and go home because we're going to get nothing other than an absolute hiding from a team so much better than us it's embarrassing.

Villa obviously done their homework on us. Fullbacks weak against anyone with skill. Weak midfield. Aimless crosses to a woefully out of form striker. We've made it easy for them
