Absolute brilliant, showing tremendous resilience. And big credit to Dyche too for what he did at half time and instilling true belief once again.

Re: Burnley v Aston Villa - Player Ratings
Pope 9 thank goodness we have him
Lowton 6 struggled against a good player
Tarkowski 5 really out of character performance
Mee 7 not at his best but great header
Pieters 6 he’s a bit Kevin Long for me. Ok to fill in but gets caught a lot.
Brady 3 awful with the ball and little help for Lowton
Brownhill 4 not sure if he struggled with the early knock but he was really off it
Westwood 5 poor but did have more of an influence in final 20
McNeil 8 genuine threat when we get him upfield
Wood 7 woeful first half, seemed to grow in confidence after forcing that corner.
Rodriguez 4 really disappointing after Sunday.
Subs
Cork 8 our best central midfielder
Gudmundson 7
Vydra 9 we looked far more threatening with him on the pitch. Again.
I’m not sure how we won that after the first half display but we’ll take it.

Pope 9 MoM
Lowton 5 (averaged out first and second)
Pieters 6 polar opposite halves
Tarks 4 as bad as I’ve seen him ever. A couple of late decent tackles aside Watkins ran him ragged and left him shell shocked
Mee 6 polar opposite halves
Brady 3
McNeil 8
Westwood 6 much improved second half
Brownhill 4 I’m a fan but that first half wasn’t good
Jay rod 5 not much hope first half, not much better second
Wood 8 a wonderful header, worked to win the corner and lead the line brilliantly second half
Cork 8 big influence, positionally, physically and the fact he moves the ball off both feet
Jbg 7
How on earth we survived that first half only the Pope knows. However the second half was

Re: Burnley v Aston Villa - Player Ratings
Pope 9 - he really is one of the best keepers in world football.
Lowton 7 - he is playing his best football right now
Tarks - 6 thought he looked a bit leggy
Mee - 7 good goal
Pieters - 7 thought he had a good game
McNeil - 9 goal and an assist, our best outfield player.
Westwood - 7, plus one for the assist
Brownhill - 4 really not sure what he offers this team
Brady - 4 really poor on the ball
Wood -7 his first half was abysmal but second half it just clicked
Jay - 5 tried hard but didn’t stick
Cork - 8 he was immense. Adds such quality to our midfield.
Gudmundsson - 6 better than Brady
Vydra - 7 has to start from now on
Lowton 7 - he is playing his best football right now

Re: Burnley v Aston Villa - Player Ratings
Pope 8
Lowton 7 good performance all round.
Tarks 6 not great. Some shocking diving in at people.
Mee 8 good goal and all round performance.
Pieters 8 excellent again. Unfortunately just not as athletic as Taylor but a brilliant back up.
Brady 6 average
Brownhill 5 not at his best and cork was much better. Still think he’s a very good player though.
Westwood 6 good second half, atrocious first.
McNeil 9 our best player. 2 brilliant crosses and constantly beating men down his side. Back to his best.
Wood 8 unfair criticism at half time when he didn’t get anything to feed on. Won quite a lot today and other than one very bad pass at the end of first half, held ball up very well. Good strike which was an awkward one and then an excellent header. Hope he pushes on now.
Jay 6 not his day. Kept fighting. Suffered from our shocking first half.
JBG 7 great defensively shutting grealish out.
Cork 8 made a difference. He’s class.
Vydra 7 great little cameo. Made a huge difference with his pace and movement. If only we used him more like that off the bench.
The substitutions were brilliant for us - credit to dyche.

Pope 10 top quality performance in that last 15 mins of the first half kept us in it
Lowton 7 - played well as he had a real handful watching greenish and little cover from...
Tarks 6 - sloppy, casual , unfocused too many times. Almost gave him 5
Mee 8 - mostly solid and a terrific equaliser
Pieters 8 - not much went past him today
Brady 6 - two decent patches but drifted out quickly from both
Westwood 7 - worked hard
Briwnhill 5 - miles off the pace today (shame as I normally like him)
McNeil 9 - a real threat aside from the 25 mins we all decided to throw one in
Wood 9 - determined. Strong and a great goal
Jay 6 - didn't really come off for him today but was wrong picked up for fouls a lot
Cork 9 - outstanding
Gudmunsson 7 - solid and got forward much more
Vydra 8 - not on for long but busy busy busy

Re: Burnley v Aston Villa - Player Ratings
Pope 9- excellent performance, controlled the box well other than one occasion in the second half and made some very good saves. His distribution also seems much more consistent at the moment.
Lowton 7 - always going to be a really tough game against Graelish but stuck to the task well.
Tarks 5 - the most nervous I've seen him in a long time. Watkins had his number today unfortunately.
Mee 7 - very solid throughout and another excellent header for the goal.
Pieters 7 - a tough first half (as it was for evrryone) but as with Lowton stuck to the task really well and made some excellent challenges.
Brady 5 - he worked hard but his decision making and final ball is really poor at the moment. Thought he would have been hooked at half time.
Brownhill 5 - struggled today. Not sure if it was the knock, but he's a good player and will be a big player for us in years to come as he develops.
Westwood 5 - better in the second half but some of his passing was at best questionable.
McNeil 8 - by far our best player in the first half and really showed his class in the second. Keep those performances and goal contributions coming Dwight!
Jay 6 - worked incredibly hard and showed a lot of fight which helped set the tone in the second half.
Wood 8 - really poor in the first half but that second half is exactly what we want to see from him. Constantly on the move, winning plenty in the air but most of all showing that fight and using his physicality which has been missing for too long. Fully deserved his goal and his second half co contribution was a big reason we won the game. More of the same please Chris!
Cork 8 - covered the ground really well, picked up some good interceptions and used the ball well.
Johan 6 - worked hard, perhaps should come in for Brady next game...
Vydra 8 - perfect substitution from Dyche. His pace and running in behind caused them a lot of problems, hes also using his body much better now than previously. The 4 forwards will be giving Dyche something to think about for the right reasons for their contributions over the last week.

Pope 9 GK & back 4 very good for me as a unit, we really do have a super defense.
Lowton 7
Tarkowski 7
Mee 8
Pieters 7
Brady 6 Midfield average to poor until the changes I thought, except for McNeil
Brownhill 5
Westwood 5
McNeil 8
Wood 6 Front 2 average, even with the goal from Wood, which is very welcome & I hope is the first of many, was hoping for JRod to do better
Rodriguez 6
Cork 8 Three substitues I thought made a real difference
JBG 7
Vydra 7
Dyche 9 He called it well and can't really fault him
If I was an AV fan I would be so mad, can't wait to read all the usual comments, have to say, I do think Grealish is very talented and they are playing well as a unit, however not quite good enough when up against the Clarets
Really enjoyed the game but at halftime I was thinking, I'd love a draw out of this but something needs to change, I didn't see where that dramatic change coming from anywhere, funny how life can seem just that little better after results like this.
What a week to be a Claret, what were people saying after the WH game, look at the fixtures, can't see a point in the next six games, wow

Game of 2 halves. Dyche got it completely wrong with hoofball to Wood. It makes him look bad.
Changed it early and Vyds completely turned it round.

Re: Burnley v Aston Villa - Player Ratings
Pope 10 he is in a class of his own
Lowton 7 had a tough time with Grealish
Pieters 8 another good game from him. Did some good forward movement second half
Tarkowski 7 didn’t cope well with Villa’s falling over and getting free kicks from a poor ref. Plus he played on
Sunday and it showed.
Mee 9 a great goal and held the back line together.
Brady 6 not his best game but kept trying
Westwood 7 better second half than first
Brownhill 5 a poor performance for a change
McNeil 9 extremely good second half and ended up with a goal and an assist
Rodriguez 7 not a bad display but received very little support from his midfield
Wood 8 a good second half but suffered in the first like Jay
Cork 8 made the difference in midfield in the second half. Seems to have revitalised after a long lay off
Gudmonsson 7 gave more cover to his right back than Brady did and looked livelier going forward
Vydra 8 added some good channel running in the later stages.
Dyche 8 much better use of his subs.

Our midfield was a poor as it’s been all season and at least SD rectified that after 45 minutes. Brownhill has flattered to deceive for me so far and I think Cork is a definite starter against Chelsea. 1st half our back line was at 6’s and 7’s and it’s the poorest Tarky has performed this season. At least 2nd half was a massive improvement. That’s the negativity done with.....what an amazing TEAM we have that never gives up! Unbelievably proud of the boys and delighted to have knocked that smirk off Dean Smith and Grealish. What a fantastic talent Grealish is but what an odious person he is. UTC!
