Gudmundsson
Congratulations to Gudmundsson and his partner. His wife gave birth this morning.
I love that he still managed to turn up to work and put a shift in tonight.

If he follows Icelandic tradition his new sons surname will be Johanson.

You’re right, Johansson Gudmondsson! You’ll never fit that on the back of a Burnley shirt!boatshed bill wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 10:09 pmJohansson, isn't it?

Son's surname will be Johansson, had it been a daughter her surname would be Johansdottir. I'm sure that's how it works.

Re: Gudmundsson
Whilst that was the traditional way of doing it when people lived in smaller communities so it was easy to recognise someone as John's son etc I don't think the Scandinavian countries stick to it now. Think they keep the same surname. Not sure if that's the case in Iceland.Vino blanco wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 10:24 pmSon's surname will be Johansson, had it been a daughter her surname would be Johansdottir. I think it's still the case in Iceland, which is different to other Scandinavian countries.

Re: Gudmundsson
Certainly was with the last generation.
Ex-claret Joey (Johannes) Gudjonsson’s dad was the ex-Stoke and Barnsley manager Gudjon Thordason.
And Joeys son is a pro footballer in Sweden and is called Isak Johannesson
