Wooden Seats ...
I should know this but a Watford supporting friend ( I have low standards ! ) has asked if we still have wooden seats in the Cricket Field stand ?
I know they got painted a few years back, but were they then replaced ?

Watching the game last night they looked almost black, possibly a very dark Claret. Wondered if they had been painted or replaced.

Re: Wooden Seats ...
The last time we were in there it was plastic in the away seats and wood in the home seats.

If we were to enter Europe again we would need to replace them for plastic. When we were allowed on the ground almost 12 months ago they were wooden in the home section. Since lockdown we've had covers over all the seats so can't tell if they have been replaced or not.

Re: Wooden Seats ...
We were close to having two stands shut down for the games we did play but did some negotiating. Had we beaten Olympiacos then we would have had to put plastic seats in the away end for the group games and had we got through to the knock out stage we would have had to replace the rest of the cricket field stand seats and all the Bob Lord.
I was baffled given that Everton had been in the season before and used Goodison but they were new rules for 2018/19.

Re: Wooden Seats ...
It's quite a few seasons since I sat there regularly but I still prefer the comfort of the wooden seats and the only downside to them was that, with the open backs, I was prone to kick the person in front when clearing the ball or shooting (or tackling for that matter)

I don’t understand other fans obsession with wooden seats. What are their dining room chairs made from at home?

Ha, I'm only making out that I have a dining room, we have a kitchen table, but to be fair, we only use it as a place to dump stuff onto.

Re: Wooden Seats ...
Ive never understood why people get upset with wooden seats. They're much better than plastic. I suppose one over the head might hurt more if that's what the issue is or a fire risk

When he asked about our wooden seats, I did ask what life was like in the Championship with their 13th Manager since sacking Sean Dyche !!claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 1:02 amI don’t understand other fans obsession with wooden seats. I think the reason behind the rule is fire risk, even though fire retardant wood is less flammable than plastic. But politicians generally try not to let practicalities get in the way of theory. They would probably ban steel ships as well on the ground that steel doesn't float.TheOriginalLongsider wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 11:02 amIve never understood why people get upset with wooden seats. I'm told they had a proper test where they tried to set fire to one of our wooden seats, but couldn't. But rules are rules.

Aye but that was Metcalfe sat there like Ray Mears with a flint spark lighter.

It’ll be a sad day when my Bob Lord seat is replaced with a plastic one.
