We started ok for 20 minutes, then surrendered the ball and didn’t see it again until injury time. A few of them looked absolutely shattered in the second half. You can dress that up however you like but having one off target header in injury time as your only effort on target is not acceptable. They looked decent but that was not a good performance in any way. Two centre midfielders particularly poor.

Can’t really mark the strikers down too much as they didn’t see the ball, midfield and full backs weren’t at the races either.
Get City out of the way and there’s points to be had in our next two.

Not too bad first half with some decent football until we got to their box but second half was woeful
Need some better quality in not just keep giving players new contracts well into their 30's but this is what dyche continues to do - is he scared of looking for some exciting attacking talent because they must be someone better out there

An off day today, but we've had a decent run tbf. We definitely need a couple in tomorrow because we looked dead on our feet at 70 minutes

I’m not really sure what to make of that second half.
Started brightly in the first half, bad bit of luck subbing Vydra and then losing Wood straight away but at no stage did we ever look like we were even trying to score.

Second best after 20mins. Our tactical rigidity (which as we know can be strength) was definitely a hindrance today.

Pope 8 His stop from Mee was excellent

Pope 7 made a couple of decent saves 2nd.
Lowton 8 mom - played well today and drove forward when he could
Tarks 8 - again worked hard but ran out of steam for the 2nd
Mee 8 - solid enough
Peiters 6 struggled all afternoon but had little assistance from Dwight
Brady 5 - decent first half but not much end product. Anonymous 2nd
Cork 7 - great fist half struggled 2nd
Westwood 6 - similar but anonymous 2nd
D
McNeil 4 - not great first half and disappo9nting he let aspilcuerta go for the first. even worse second
Wood 6 - bright start nothing doing 2nd half
Vydra 6 - ditto

Jay 5 - nothing came off for him
JbG - 4 was he even brought on?
Mumbongo 6 - tried

Thought bringing Vydra off was the wrong choice at that point bring Jay on for Brady out wide as Vydra had tried and was unfortunate to be the sacrifice.
Then the Wood injury was unfortunate but the shift to 5 across middle with Dwight central was a disastrous decision.

A game too far for some and we looked knackered and flat. Unfortunately we don’t have the resources and now with Wood possibly injured it’s not going to get any easier. Very frustrating day but Chelsea looked good but I think our performance enhanced the way it looked.

Pope 7
Lowton 6
Tarkowski 7
Mee 7
Pieters 4 beaten time and time again, lack of pace to get tight. Offered nothing going other way either
Brady 5 cant beat a man, cant cross, creates zilch. Least he didnt waste any set plays today.
Westwood 5 looked lost
Cork 5 looked lost, tired last 20
McNeil 5 nothing of note
Vydra 5 1 great lay off, other than that just made runs to over hit lumps
Wood 5 struggled to pass 20 yards early on, set the tone

Rodriguez 5
Gudmundsson 5

After a bright start, we just didnt manage to find that positive pass in the last 3rd.
We tired they exploited the space.
Thankfully they had a few players on an off day tol or it could have been 5.
As routine of a comfortable 2-0 you will ever see.
We creaded ziltch and gave them nothing to think about

All our focus must go on beating brighton Znext Saturday, wrote off Man City, we dont want to be chasing them for 95 minutes and getting further tired/injuries.

A typically inept performance we often serve up against Chelsea. Think this looked a weaker Chelsea team too. Created and offered nothing going forward. Bright first 20 mins but so weak in the final third. In how many games have we offered no attempts on goal or no shots on target ?

Pope 7 - a couple of decent saves.
Lowton 7 - did very little wrong and put a couple.of balls into decent areas first half.
Tarkowski 7 - did well against Abraham and Werner
Mee 7 - as Tarwowski, did very little wrong.
Pieters 5 - a tough day today and was clearly very concerned with the pace of Hudson-Odoi.
Brady 5 - started really well but faded badly unfortunately.
Cork 5 - covered the ground well but struggled to get anything like a foothold in the game.
Westwood 5 - I think his position could become under threat, not in good form at all.
McNeil 5 - very quiet today, seemed to lose confidence after a couple.of sloppy moments in the first half.
Wood 7 - thought he competed well when he was on and won a reasonable amount. Hope it's a tweak rather than anything more concerning.
Vydra 5 - some reasonable movement but really struggled to hold the ball up or make the most of Woods knock downs.

Jay 5 - worked hard but had very little service.
Gudmundson 5 - another who worked hard but didnt get much of the ball.

Similar to.the Villa game in that we started well and were pressing nicely and getting into some good positions. Whilst it took a goal from Villa on Thursday a couple of miss hit passes today seemed to result in the defence and midfield not pressing high enough up the pitch. Unfortunately the half time team talk didnt work today and Second half was a real struggle and we did look tired. Wednesday night is a complete free hit and I'd be tempted to rest a few players in order to allow them the recovery time for the following 3 games (McNeil/Westwood certainly springing to mind).

Looked tired but one off target effort all game which came in the 93rd minute is absolutely pathetic. What sort of football is that? It's supposed to be entertaining. Garbage, tired or not. At least we have played well in recent games. Hopefully they recover well and put a decent performance in against City.

Pope 6 - think he’ll be a bit disappointed with the first goal.
Lowton 6 - did what was required of him
Tarkowski 8 - MOM - only decent performance from a Burnley player
Mee 6 -reasonably solid
Pieters 4 - struggled all afternoon
Brady 4 - poor by recent standards
Westwood 5 - didn’t create much
Cork 5 - as above
McNeil 4 - where was he for the first goal? Hid most of the game
Vydra 4 - will start vs City due to injuries then rot on the bench for the remainder of his time here
Wood 4 - got into good space twice in the first 15 minutes only to waste the opportunity with laughable misplaced passes

Rodriguez 4 - like the rest up top, did nothing
Gudmundsson 4 - barely noticed he’d come on

Not going to overreact today given previous results, this period suits teams who can rotate and we've seen a lot of that over the past few days. Looked a heavy pitch, too. The irony was Chelsea took two of their most difficult chances, we lost most of the second balls and 50/50s ..in fact it was alarming how easily we were constantly knocked off the ball.

Pope 7 could have done better with the 1st, but did ok
Lowton 6 At least he was involved
Tarks 7 Thank God for him and Mee
Mee 7 The only thing between us and an absolute thrashing are our centre backs
Pieters 6 Hopelessly exposed.
Brady 6 Decent 1st half, looked totally lost in the 2nd
Westwood 5 Tried, but failed
Cork 6 Tried, did OK
McNeil 5 Looked lost
Wood 5 No supply, possibly a bad injury, but probably needs a break.
Vydra 4 Just not good enough, not good enough at all.

Jay Rod 4 Did he touch the ball?
JBG 5 Not involved.
Um Bongo n/a Feel sorry for the lad, he's so far above his level, it's embarrassing to watch.

Felt sorry for the forward. They had zero service after the first 10 minutes. First 10 we passed the ball quickly into feet and in the channels from the Chelsea half. Then we dropped 10/15 yards and all the service was long balls from our own half.

Poor stuff from a tired side. Tactically we had no answer after the first bright 15 minutes, to their width especially on the right.

Pope 7
Lowton 6-got better but his early distribution was poor
Tarks 7-contained their strikers
Mee 7-some good reading of the game particularly in our 6 yard box
Pieters 5-in fairness he was exposed and needed more support
Brady 5-has had a run of games but he is not impressing me other than some defensive duties
Cork 6-got knocked off the ball so easily
Westwood 6-has dropped off in recent games. The one thing he guarantees is a booking
McNeil 5-poor game for him, and looked lost when Wood went off
Vydra 5-today sums him up. He got bounced arounsd so easily
Wood 5-offered little. There seemed to be a lump on his leg above the knee
Jay 5-whats happened to the old Jay
JBG 4-did he touch it
Mumbongo 5-he did try to get involved

A bit of everything today with Vydra starting, early subs, a change in shape with Dwight playing behind Jay, and a league debut for Mumbongo. The only common thread was that none of it made any difference to the pattern of the game. A tired performance against a higher quality motivated side made for a difficult watch.

It's Mumbongo

And luckily many on here including myself, and more importantly, Sean, feel he's worth a chance

Pope 7 (I did wonder about him on the first goal)
Lowton 8 (MOM)
Tarks 7
Mee 7
Pieters 6
Cork 6
Westwood 6
Brady 4 (utterly awful)
McNeil 5 (Totally AWOL, especially second half)
Wood 4 (Needs to lay the ball off to OUR players and so often he doesn't do it)
Vydra 6

Jayrod 4
JBG 4

Chelsea came into the game lacking confidence and really they aren't the force right now that they were, with or without the new manager "bounce". But aside from the first 15 minutes when we got into some promising situations, we allowed their confidence to literally flow back and they recorded an extremely easy regulation win. We looked tired and directionless and I felt it was a shame Barnes wasn't fit as we desperately needed his cheap free kicks to relieve pressure and to allow us to pump some balls into their box. Very poor today from everyone tbh and whilst people are mentioning Mumbongo, I'm glad he's being given a go. Sean obviously sees something there and the lad actually got a bit more change out of the Chelsea defence than Wood had done for 60 minutes, so maybe there's something to build on.

After a decent start, they took over.
Hardly surprising, given the amount of money that's been spent assembling their huge squad.
