Book binding/ restoration

Post by Funkydrummer » Wed Feb 03, 2021 1:01 pm

My partner has an old story book that was read to her as a small child, by her mother and which
has in turn been read to her children and her grandchildren.

It is obviously of great sentimental value but has become rather bruised and battered down
the years with the spine having taken the brunt of the damage.

Can any of my learned Claret friends on here please recommend anywhere that will do a good job in
restoring the book ?

There's a book restorer and binder in Ramsbottom.
Should do a good job for you, but it's an expensive process.

They're always looking for people with projects to repair on "The Repair Shop" - BBC1. If you're not in a rush it might be worth applying.

You could try the bookbinding society website : https://www.societyofbookbinders.com/wp ... der_V6.pdf

Or alternatively the company Ratchford in Stockport are a distributor to the industry and could possibly recommend a specialist for your particular book/job : www.ratchford.co.uk
