Yes the club are joining in. Don't worry. You can rest easy tonight knowing we're doing the morally right thing.

The morally right thing would have been to fund the NHS properly in the first placeClaretAndJew wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 4:55 pmYes the club are joining in. Don't worry. You can rest easy tonight knowing we're doing the morally right thing.
RIP Captain Tom

To be fair, Claret2018 will be busy discussing why football should be halted again.

Absolutely. consecutive governments for years have left it to get stretched to breaking point like it is.
I will however state that we have been hearing for years and years how the NHS is near breaking point. Hardly surprising no one takes it that seriously when it always manages to make it thru the current crisis. Far too many beaurocrats, not enough health professionals.

Re: Clap for Sir Captain Tom
The funds he raised were not for the NHS, but for Charities working to support NHS workers !
I suggest Sir Captain Tom, if he would have been asked, would have preferred the £150,000 to £250,000 that a statue is likely to cost, to be donated to further those causes instead ...
RIP Captain Tom ..

I would imagine his family would hate the idea of money being wasted on a statue and would probably prefer to add another or extend the foundation already set up.

Re: Clap for Sir Captain Tom
Of course not. There's no way any government minister would sanction that. They'd set up a limited company in the names of some of their family members so that they could keep any profit.
