Referees
I’ve said this so many times. They get their heads together pre-season and decide the outcomes. Corrupt.
Re: Referees
Heard many tales from Mark Halsey, and a few could have just been tales, however some were certainly believable, even more so when you saw the evidence.
I'm sure VAR and the multiple cameras and microphones these days has made it a lot harder.
Although there are still match defining decisions or lack of one that are still hard to see how 1 referee missed it, never mind 2 with the 2nd having multiple camera angles and replays.

Re: Referees
Of course there’s bias. Think about. Nobody becomes a football referee without having interest in the game. Everyone interested in football has their preferred teams be it if you’re a huge fan of a club or just a passing interest. No matter what area you come from you have a preference on which team you’d rather win in any given fixture.
Look at our recent game at Anfield. Big Tranmere fan in charge of the game. If you placed a Accy fan in charge of Blackburn vs Brentford they’d have a preference to which result they’d prefer, be it a Blackburn win or loss.

Re: Referees
... and what was the outcome at Anfield?
Has Halsey reported this to the police. Did he himself take part in 'corrupt' practices. Why didn't he mention them at the time?
He seems to me just a publicity seeker since he retired.

Re: Referees
How on earth do you give 'a certain amount of throw ins or corners'? The ball is either in or out of play,

Re: Referees
When I've heard Halsey speak on the radio he comes across as very much a "rough diamond" and not very bright or likeable. I don't trust him and , as MTO3ALG says ..how the hell do you fix some of those things !?

Re: Referees
You'd like to think that they are all incorruptible but, like in any other walk of life, there will be bad apples. With the amount of money that is spent on betting, there is bound to be some "fixing". SAD. VERY SAD

Re: Referees
Not many years ago there were two games investigated over abnormal betting problems. One was Accrington v Bury which saw four or five player banned for betting on the game, the other game I can't recall now but I was always intrigued that they had the same referee.
Although there has never been evidence to suggest that referee was involve he was sacked suddenly just ahead of the 2017/18 season with no explanation given by PGMOL. That was the end of one Darren Deadman.

that name, if you search t'interweb, doesn't reveal much these days which usually infers that court action has been taken to remove internet entries.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 4:33 pmNot many years ago there were two games investigated over abnormal betting problems. Re: Referees
He and David Coote were both suspended in August 2017 although Coote eventually came back. I've never found out anything on Deadman since which is astonishing really.
Re: Referees
If I spot him when I’m out and out, I’ll let you know that I’ve seen Deadman walking.

Re: Referees
It'd be interesting to see a game where the referee hasn't given enough throw-ins so if having to make up the numbers in the last few minutes. Apart from adding 10 minutes injury time, what could he do?

This is the guy who sadly had cancer isn't it? He makes some great points and so do other posters on this thread.
There's clear bias sometimes, I mean jeez look at that clown robert Jones in the Leeds game and the failure of VAR

I think that was pure incompetence (I.e. he’s ****) not bias.DomBFC1882 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 6:21 pmThis is the guy who sadly had cancer isn't it? He makes some great points and so do other posters on this thread.

Re: Referees
What is astonishing about that Leeds game, is that there were 2 referees that day, one failed to get it wrong after multiple slow motion replays from several angles..DomBFC1882 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 6:21 pmThis is the guy who sadly had cancer isn't it? Back in the 90s they were far less live games, cameras, camera angles, microphones and it was probably far easier to be biased as it wasnt talked about on 101 channels for the next few days, it was forgotten about almost immediately.

Re: Referees
He has said he did basically cheat when he was a referee, not giving a nailed on penalty.
He also had to stop refereeing QPR after he realised he wanted them to win after he had been in the middle of their game(s)

The second half of the quote in the OP's image is a total fabrication, just in case anyone's interested.

He tweeted "I have been in that situation when I have seen an incident and been told to say I haven't seen it" and then "to be Fair to the FA Lee it's not them, it comes from with in the PGMOL" - everything after that is made up
