Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Brighton
No Brady Taylor Wood or Brownhill. Do well to get a point today
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Brighton
Starting 11 is fine. Rodriguez on bench, as is Bardsley.
Stephens would want to show them a thing or two, as well.
We'll do. 6 points please!

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Brighton
Slighter stronger line-up than I feared, good to see Barnes back, if I recall he's got a good record against his old club.
Bench does look thin though, although Mumbongo & Rodriguez will offer us options if needed.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Brighton
Stronger because we've got one senior player back in Barnes - he scored against them down there in the 3-1 win two seasons ago but I think that's his only goal against them.

Our bench isn't really looking great, especially when you consider the impact Jay has had for some time now. (The Fulham cup tie excepted)

Amazing, Wood not playing yet you still take every opportunity to have a go at our best strikerGordaleman wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 2:27 pmDon't smoke at all mate. Filthy habit.
Barny has much better ball control than Wood. Hopefully Vyds will benefit.
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Brighton
Not going to be easy, hopefully we can sneak a win.
Our lack of depth is a worry. Limited options to change things and not a great deal of quality (certainly not first team ready quality).
With a bit of luck, we will avoid any further injuries and see the injured allures returning over the next few weeks.

I’d agree that Barnes has better control - I think he’s quite underrated in that area. Time will tell what the Barnes Vydra combo might deliver.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 2:27 pmDon't smoke at all mate. Filthy habit.

To be fair to Wood, his injury came at a bad time after getting back on the scoresheet, with a typical Wood header.

Sky just had a stat up, they’ve only beat us once in the last 10 and we were on the beach for that game.

His goalscoring record since he came to us - 38 in 98 starts and 16 sub appearances suggests he is.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 2:31 pmAre you in love with Wood Tony? Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Brighton
I wouldn’t be so pessimistic exilecanada, Brighton are a good team, wouldn’t be the end of the world if we lost though would be nice to get a goal or 2. We have to keep an eye on whose below and to be honest I don’t see any of them catching us.exilecanada wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 2:17 pmGreetings from a bitterly cold SW Ontario, currently feeling like minus 21 with the wind chill

I’m not sure that we can lay all the blame at the feet (or heads) or our strikers, they’ve not exactly been blessed with great service.
The right hand side has been lacking, whether it’s Brady or JBG and we don’t play in a way that sees much, if anything for the strikers, through the middle.
It’s putting a lot of extra pressure on Dwight to deliver.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Brighton
Even if we lose today, which I don't think we will. We are hardly in deep trouble, at worst we'll still have a 5 point cushion to 3rd bottom, yes a victory would be nice of course, but it's not absolutely imperative for our survival prospects by any means.exilecanada wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 2:17 pmGreetings from a bitterly cold SW Ontario, currently feeling like minus 21 with the wind chill

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Brighton
Brady came back and did what he's always done. He flattered to deceive. A couple of half decent games, then back to normal. I much prefer Gudders in the side but everyone has different opinions. That's what these boards are about.DCWat wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 2:42 pmIt certainly isn’t.

2020/21 stats in Premier League
Wood: 4 goals in 1,677 minutes
Barnes: 2 goals in 1,039 minutes
Rodriguez: 0 goals in 763 minutes
Vydra: 0 goals in 366 minutes
None of them good admittedly

Very poor across the board. Partly why I’d have loved to have seen us bring in some quality to play on the right and give them some assistance.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 2:47 pmFine - brilliant goalscoring records from the other three though aren't they?

The others can't score if they don't play. Ten or twenty minute cameos don't give them time to get warm. Got to say, JayRod has been disappointing recently, so he has been dropped. Funny how no matter how bad Wood is, he's NEVER dropped.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 2:47 pmFine - brilliant goalscoring records from the other three though aren't they?

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Brighton
Pleased to see Barnes is back. Not had much game time with Vydra as a partner. I can see it working well. Brighton are on a good run but we can beat them if we turn up. We will win 2-0Gordaleman wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 2:48 pmYes, I geddit. I just hope Barny and Vyds do the business.
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Brighton
Our lack of depth in the squad might just be coming back to bite us. Our first choice team is fine when they are all fully fit but the current run of games is stretching us to the limit and beyond. Think I would have been looking to add to the squad to protect my investment if I were the Chairman. BIG game today. No shots on target in last 2 games and we have never beaten Brighton at home in the PL.So I guess all that points to a Clarets win. UTC

Put simply, if all four were to play the same minutes/start the same number of games over a season, I'd be very confident that Wood would be the main goalscorer. Don't think it would be particularly close either
