Vydra 8 excellent today, ran his socks off, created plenty of chances for himself and others, deserved a goal today. Excellent touch and football brain. He should start every week, offers us soo much more than long punts to 2 tall men.

Decent performance and a good point. They looked to be feeling their Anfield performance 2nd half but we look much better at a higher tempo and getting the full backs up the pitch

We should have won the game from our "1st half chances and we completely bossed the game 2nd. Dyche will be disappointed we didn't win

Barnes deserves better. He held up the ball so well, causes havoc, scares the opposition (keeper, and scored a nicely finished goal (offside).

Pope 6- very little to do, distribution decent. Much improved in that aspect generally over the last 5-10 games.
Lowton 8* - looking very confident recently and some great forward runs. End productcould have been slightly better on occasion but very good overall.
Tarkowski 7 - solid and some nice clipped passes. Should have scored in the first half though.
Mee 7 - solid other than the yellow untroubled.
Pieters 7- thought he made some really basic errors in the first half but generally solid and played very well in the second half.
Gudmundson 7 - excellent in the second half where he was clearly instructed to have a little more freedom which really improved his contrinution. Should have been a comfortable clearance on their goal though.
Westwood 8 - best performance in quite some time, some very clever passes and helped us control the game second half.
Cork 6 - off the pace in the first half and completely lost Dunk on the goal, better in the second. Should have done better with a couple of shots
McNeil 7 - his crosses in the first half left a lot to be desired but another who benefitted by being given a little more freedom in the second half, whilst still being asked to work hard. When It opened up for him on his right in the second and he should have just have had a swing, mind.
Vydra 8 - movement excellent again and helps us get that little further up the pitch. His end contribution should have been better on a few occasions but contributed a lot to our overall performance.
Barnses 6 - some good runs and made his presence felt generally but agree with others. Jay's craft in the last 30inutes could have been the difference between 1 point and 3 today.

I'd have taken a point at half time but really this should have been 3. Brighton didn't really put us any sustained pressure at any point and the goal should have been prevented,as good a header as it may have been. We played far too predictably in the first half but still had the better chances (Dwight and Tarks) whilst second half we played at a much higher tempo and with real intent and were comfortably the better side. Unfortunately the finish just let us down,Vydras chance in particularly standing out. On to the next game and hopefully we take confidence from that second half performance forwards.

JBG gets minus one for gifting them an easy goal. He simply shouldn't be allowing that to creep in the far post. That was his role. He probably knows it and his second half performance went a long way to atoning.

For context, he otherwise had a half decent game. He needs to work hard until he hits form again but that might take time. He's a great player on his day.

Barnes looked off the pace. He's maybe been rushed back into the side because of injuries. The midfield need to up their tempo and have more forward momentum. When they stepped up in the second half we looked much better.

Lowton was great today but when your right back is your most creative player it shows up the midfield - all four of them.

We need to work on being more clinical: We need to be creating more chances, creating better chances and putting away more of the chances we create.

We were decent enough in the second half but we should have won today. A good first half would have seen the points in the bag.

Lowton - 8 His best performance for a very long time and long may it continue
Mee - 7 Did what Ben does
Tarky - 6. A good performance and passing was very good but lost his man for the goal and should have scored
Pieters - 5 Sorry Erik but we really need Charlie back ASAP
JBG - 7 Don’t know how he missed the ball for their goal but 2nd half more than made up for it with an excellent game
Westy - 6 We need more from our middle 2. Time and again they were picking the ball up in the centre half position. 1 of them needs to play much further forward
Cork - 6 See Westy
McNeil - 6 He’s not the same player with Charlie behind him
Barnes - 5 Not enough from him today
Vydra - 7 Just needs to add calmness and goals to his main asset...movement. Probably deserved a goal today

Fingers crossed Taylor, Brownhill and Brady are involved on Tuesday night because I think with that trio in the squad today we would be discussing a Burnley win

Woeful 1st half. 2nd half was exceptional. High praise to Dyche who clearly asked for more drive and tempo but also changed shape allowing our more creative players to find some nice pockets in behind the lines. Bit gutted we didn’t manage to get all 3 points in the end.

Lowton 9 mom - played very well
Tarks 6 - for most of the game was composed and dominant. Shockingly bad for their goal though plus should have scored (again)

Pieters 6 - poor first half but much better 2nd. But we miss Charlie
Gudmunsson 6 - great 2nd half but a definite 3 or 4 for the first. Poor for their goal too

Three 8s from me today - the two down the right hand side who I though always posed real problems for Brighton and Vydra, and what a shame he couldn't get a goal to add to that performance.

Difficult to mark due to the difference in our performance from first to second half
Based on first half nobody would have had over 6 but in second there were some excellent performances.

Pope 6. Quiet day
Lowton 8 got forward very well but had nobody to mark Tarks 5 missed open goal in first half and lost his man for the goal. Otherwise did ok
Mee 6.
Pieters 6 awful in first but much better in 2nd
JBG 7 as Pieters but plus 1 for goal
Cork 5 invisible today
Westwood 7
McNeil 6 awful first. Took control in second
Vydra 7 some fantastic play but so frustrating
Barnes 6 not great but unlucky with the disallowed goal.
