All wrong tonight
All wrong tonight
From the unbalanced line up to the tactics to some woeful displays (Rodriguez..what on earth has happened?) we did at least learn a few things. Not least one being that none of the U23 players (barring perhaps BPF) is good enough for us on this showing.
Re: All wrong tonight
It shows we’ve a long way to go to get quality youth into the first team. That really was awful from start to finish.

How many did Vydra score?
Re: All wrong tonight
LoveCurryPies I think you should really be looking at his strike partner tonight. Pretty sure that's the worst game he has ever played for Burnley and hope it remains so.
Re: All wrong tonight
Jay’s looking a shadow of himself lately. Hopefully it’s a short term blip because with his quality, he really should be pushing for a starting place each week.

Re: All wrong tonight
I've had just about enough now.
I love this club but from the appalling tactics every week, the total lack of interest in playing any sort of football, the sickening attitude to cup competitions, the way we just cannot recruit a football player to the club, the fact we've been bought out by American's immediately plunging the club into tens of millions of debt at an eye-watering interest rate, and to top it all off we're all still stuck watching this shite from home for the foreseeable nearly 12 months into the pandemic...
I can feel my patience with it all wearing incredibly thin now.

Second half against Brighton was a decent watch , I’d like more of that, Dyche was worked wonders with us, we need new blood for him to work with and evolve with, don’t throw the towel in my friend , it’s hard to watch sometimes but let’s get to safety this seasons and see what materialises UTCksrclaret wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 7:39 pmI've had just about enough now.

Shocking from SD
Not sure why he thinks that side was good enough to beat a team who has just spent the last few years in the Premier League
Half of the side he picked tonight would struggle to get a game every week in the Championship.
Embarrassing to watch that

Some of that Bournemouth starting eleven tonight gets in our best eleven. You could argue at least 4 possibly 5StTedsOB wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 7:54 pmShocking from SD

Re: All wrong tonight
I feel a bit sorry for the young lads. With respect, all should be out on loan and nowhere near a Premier League squad at the moment. But poor window after window has dictated the utter mess this squad is in. We might scrape staying up, but we need a monumental rebuild. Grim.
As for Dyche, nobody is questioning the job he has done, but increasingly so he isn't doing himself any favours. It does feel as though things are very stale. I hope the new owners can somehow turn things around in the summer or I fear we'll be in for a very long 21/22 season.

I think Dyche was unlucky tonight what with the Pieters mix up. But for that disruption we'd have probably played like Brazil and brushed Bournemouth aside

Lionel Messi would've struggled tonight with the ball sailing way over his head more often than not.
We looked League Two tonight, devoid of any skill or desire.

Putting aside your irony, I did wonder who exactly is responsible for that - I assume we have a club secretary who takes care of all that kind of admin stuff. But that really is a schoolboy error, pointed out by a BT employee apparently.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 8:03 pmI think Dyche was unlucky tonight what with the Pieters mix up. Re: All wrong tonight
All will be forgiven and forgotten if we pick up 5 or more points from our next 3 games.
But if we don't (and lose to Fulham per chance) then we'll still be looking over our
shoulders and wondering where we are going to pick up points.
We need Taylor, Brownhill and Wood back asap and hopefully firing on all cylinders.

Not from me. We will be safe anyway. One game away from the quarters and he picks that team? Whats the point. Blame is thoroughly on Dyche's shoulders tonight.jurek wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 8:44 pmAll will be forgiven and forgotten if we pick up 5 or more points from our next 3 games.

Re: All wrong tonight
I must admit I was expecting a strong starting eleven hoping we'd get a couple of goals ahead and then bring the second string on. I did at least expect us to start with Barnes along side Vydra.

Re: All wrong tonight
My comment earlier re Vydra drew a lot of comments. It was aimed more at those fans who were predicting he would score 2 or 3 tonight. The same people who call for him to replace Barnes or Wood. I haven’t seen any evidence he will ever score 2 or 3 in a match.
However, he works hard and gets stuck in, unlike Wood. But Wood is capable of several goals in a match.
I’m sorry if I’ve upset anyone. Just hugely disappointed. The match was lost before we stepped onto the pitch.

A £150m+ organisation who can’t ensure they know who is eligible to play? It’s amateur hour. A shambles. The poor kid, promising, but way short at present, didn’t have time to get his head right and wasn’t given many leaders around him to help him through.
After that balls up, he should have pulled Dunne and put Mee in alongside Glennon instead of making him the sacrificial lamb.

He should have started with Tarks and Westwood. Worst case bring those 2 and Barnes on at ht. woeful fare tonight
Re: All wrong tonight
Let's be honest, the FA Cup is now as relevant as the Johnson's Paint Trophy. It's no longer the prestige competition it once was. Given a choice most clubs wouldn't enter it at all, bar the smaller clubs hoping for a big pay day against Liverpool reserves. Tonight's fixture wouldn't have attracted a 5 figure gate. I can remember every Cup Final, even Semi-finals from the 80's, but couldn't tell you who won it 2 years ago. It's a shame, but that's where we are. Dyche said pre-match that the league is always our priority. And there you go. UTC

Thing is ones who came in and played tonight are all now early 20’s and no disrespect to them but not one of them shows any real signs of being up to the standard required. This summers rebuilding job is going to be huge.NickBFC wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 8:03 pmI feel a bit sorry for the young lads. Felt a bit sorry for Glennon being thrown in at the last minute and up against a very good player in Brooks. But i agree the likes of Benson and Mumbongo aren't kids anymore and look nowhere near good enough.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 9:39 pmThing is ones who came in and played tonight are all now early 20’s and no disrespect to them but not one of them shows any real signs of being up to the standard required. Dyche will be the first to tell you that he is still learning , as well as the players. It’s easy to chop and change managers all the time, but sticking with one will always have its ups and downs. We’ve had many more ups with Dyche than downs . Long may it continue!

Re: All wrong tonight
There is a real risk that tonight's performance damages morale and an already fragile confidence. JBG, Jay, McNeil & Vydra all likely to be involved against Palace and none will feel better as a result of that run out. It is a really sad indictment, on our efforts and lack of investment in the last few windows, that our second eleven is League One standard in places.

Re: All wrong tonight
Don’t worry bud, no scraping needed. We’ll stay up with ease, it’s not even on the cards. Things aren’t too good at times but if we keep averaging the points per game we have so far it’s just a matter of how high we finish. And our current points per game includes the first 8 games or so when half our team was injured.
Re: All wrong tonight
Dyche thought there were some good performances tonight. I’m scratching my head here.
