Street Performers
Street Performers
I thought this was really really good and somewhat different.
Has anyone actually seen an amazing street performance, of course depending where you live determines how many you see, have seen very little of it in Houston, however when we lived in London saw lots. One memorable occasion was on Broadway Market and we hear music, well known, and went to see/listen, 4 guys dressed and hair cuts just like the Beatles when they started. It was a nice day so we sat down close and stayed for the whole performance, enjoyable and certainly remember it but nothing like this:

Re: Street Performers
I remember being in Munich back in 2005 ahead of our pre season games in Austria. We went to get something to eat but stopped to watch some street entertainers. By the time we left all the restaurants had closed and our only option was McDonalds.

Saw some young kids on the NY subway who did a whole dance act incorporating pretending to rob onlookers. It was v funny and has stuck with me for 15 years.

Re: Street Performers
Lived in London from '80/'84.
Often went to Covent Garden if I'd a free Sunday. Some great Magicians/Singers/Acrobats around.
But my favourite was in Paris, Place St Michel. (I went several times a year).
Some amazing mime artists. Often funny. Especially those that followed unsuspecting people across the area in front of the fountain, mimicking their walks.

I’ll never forget whilst at Glastonbury and on the way to the Hare Krishna tent for my free dinner, well it was free and all you had to do was eat it there whilst listening to the chants, I came upon the Wurzels singing Farmer Bills Cowman on a tiny stage that looked like a magic merry go round.

I remember Jon Walters doing keepy ups on Brunshaw Rd before the Istanbul Basaksehir match. He nearly managed to get into double figures a couple of times and told the crowd he had done 16 in practice.
It was very entertaining and I thought what a great thing for one of our players to do for all the fans

Frank Robinson the Xylophone man, sadly no longer with us but used to brighten up peoples day by playing a child’s xylophone in Nottingham City Centre.

Re: Street Performers
I too often wandered through Covent Garden, but in London my favourite location was the tube station at Hyde Park Corner; as you walked through the underpasses under Park Lane the music wafted through with you. Abroad I'd choose absolutely any town or city in Cuba on a Sunday morning - state supported musicians and dancers in almost every park and square. And for an individual I recall a day about 15 years ago when we saw a bagpipe playing punk-rocker in Australia; who was so good we followed him around Melbourne (he played outside pubs) for most of an afternoon; lots of good rock-tracks and flames shooting out of the pipes!
Re: Street Performers
really enjoyed that thank you, I do love to hear a good trumpet or sax and that was so good, made me smile.DCWat wrote: ↑Fri Feb 12, 2021 5:13 pmBit of an old one and one of them has played at the Proms since!!

Seems it still goes on there.
Recommend it as a stop off point for anyone who visits Paris.

We have an annual Buskers Carnival here in Kitchener/Waterloo, of course last years was cancelled due to covid. Jugglers, acrobats, high wire walkers, some musical acts, that sort of thing. It's really a lot of fun

We used to make a fortune summer busking in the lakes in the 70's, then the lad from Workington I used to meet up with went off and formed a band (It Bites) and that was the end of that.

Las Vegas has got hundreds of street performers that you would easily pay to see. They attract large gatherings and get quite a bit in the hat.

Ive no footage, but saw a young lad with an acoustic and singing near york minster once. Absolutely incredible. Gave him a few bob, and complimented his ability. It was his own material too. About a hundred times better than the dross on the ITV talent shows. There are so many wonderful artists out there who will never become well known, nor do they want to.

Two guitarists/singers covering Bowie songs in Piazza Navona, Rome were excellent.
The Retiro Park in Madrid has some exceptional Sunday entertainment.
Spent an hour on a bridge in Paris watching some kids doing a high jump competition on skateboards. Winner took the collection. They reached some amazing heights and had you hooked.

The OP link. She’s actually very well known in Ireland and has been on tv there and I think she may have been on Ellen de Generes show in US as well
I live in Cardiff and we do have some good ones but probably more awful ones. Some people should just never be given an amp !!

Re: Street Performers
I remember seeing a street performer on Brunshaw Road in May 2009, outside the club shop.
He had a megaphone, and I think his name was Paul. He was entertaining some people who had set up stalls selling claret and blue themed merchandise.
At least I think he was a street performer?

There's loads to discover in the side shows at Glastonbury. The Space Cowboy is the best I've ever seen. He juggled fire on a 3 metre tall unicycle whilst blindfolded.

Re: Street Performers
When I lived in WA I used to head to Fremantle most Sunday afternoons for the markets and they had some awesome street performers. One particularly stood out and I am pretty sure he has been on one of the 'talent' shows. He was a bagpiper dressed in kilt etc but had flames coming out of his pipes and played a lot of rock music such as ACDC....he was brilliant and a great performer. Was lucky enough to bump into him in a bar later one afternoon...really sound guy and had a quick chat with him....

Brilliant. My brother saw him when he lived out there and can never resist having a blast of it now he's back home.
On a side note and nothing really to do with street perfomers other than the "Thunderstruck" link, check this out from the 2Cellos.
Just as bonkers in their own way.
