A joy to read. I'm delighted for Lowt's. He has been in tremendous form and if can continue to play like he has this year, will soon be safe. At last we have a threat from the rhs with him and JBG back on form. That will help Dwight as well.

I didn't know Lowton had played in midfield for SU, but I can see why now you mention it. If we were ever in need, I think he would be a better option then Dale.

I have watched a lot of Burnley football over the last 60 plus years but have never seen a better goal scored by a Burnley fullback.
Some were comparing the Stephen Ward goal at Chelsea to it but imo Lowtons goal was superior
The run, the pass, the return pass and then the volley were all sublime.
So was it the Best Ever ? I vote yes

Better option than Stephens in midfield? Someone who played there for Sheff U in League One years ago ahead of someone who has played there for the past three seasons for Brighton. I'll pass on that one but he was exceptional yesterday at right back.

Would that be a sideways pass or a backwards one?

My vote is for Alex Elder beating Adam Blacklaw vs Leeds in 1966. If he tried that shot another 999 times he would never do it.

Took the game to them from the kick off. Lots of movement from the front men, getting in behind their defence. Everyone appeared to want the ball and the passing was very crisp and accurate. Good result, excellent performance.

I counted 17 passes in the lead up to our first goal. Okay they touched it briefly immediately prior to our goal, but not bad for a so called hoofball team eh.

I was at a Harry Potts book launch in 2006 when Alex Elder described this goal as a pin point pass to the other Burnley full back that flew into the Burnley goal due to “a gust of wind”. Alex signed my diagram of the incident to authenticate it as fact.

Its brilliant to see him show such form. For me the turning point was the psychology of Dyche bringing him on as a sub during the MK Dons game and played him wide right if midfield. I remember then thinking could he be a more natural fit there than the left footed pair of Brady and JBG

Has his improved form coincided with the return to fitness of JGB ?

Don’t think so. He’s been playing well for a while now with both Brady & JBG.

Its quite possible, and the two goals JBG has scored have been most welcome. Yesterdays was the catylyst to the win

It was very very good..... but for me it doesn’t beat Ally Pickering’s stunning volley away at Stoke.

As always, a very enjoyable read and even more so after such a great performance.
I was really impressed by the Sky commentary, I didn't realise until reading the report that the co-commentator was Efan Ekoku, I thought he was absolutely excellent, alongside whoever the commentator was, they were insightful and professional and thankfully not trying to be a comedy double act with all that cringeworthy chummy 'banter'.
After reading the closing tribute to Alan Woan, a Google search shows that he was an inside forward with a record of 140 goals in 289 appearances - very impressive stats in anyone's book!

Good to see such a glowing report, and I honestly can't recall when we last dominated a PL away game in that manner, it was totally convincing, and 3-0 didn't flatter us at all, indeed we could have notched more, but along with all the goals it was pleasing to see Nick notch up another clean sheet, I very much doubt he'll be in contention for the GG this season, but 8 clean sheets for a lower half team isn't to be sniffed at at this stage of the season.

I see that McNeil was wearing a black on one and a Yellow boot on the other foot in the last pic

Steve Bruce at centre back for the Gills.

Didn’t see this game but saw plenty of stuffings down at Priestfield one of the most dismal venues imaginable.

All the more reason to savour the current era.

I honestly don't know how you do it sometimes, Tony. After a loss, I just want to forget it ever happened and you have to relive it in written form. It'd be bad for my mental health :D

Glad you've been able to write a positive one this weekend!
