Car tyres

Post by Funkydrummer » Mon Feb 15, 2021 7:55 am

I have been very fortunate and not suffered a puncture for years and years and years.

However, a day before mum and dad's funeral, I have discovered that I have a flat tyre.
They have only done 7,000 miles but I recall from somewhere in the dim and distant
past, that they don't do repairs anymore, just replacement tyres.

1. Is this correct ?

AND

2. Where's the best place to get it sorted in Burnley before tomorrow ?

Any help would be appreciated before some of the big boys open for business.

Cheers

Budjet on Church Street (near Shimla Spice) are ok.

Got a puncture fixed there last year, cost a tenner.

They do repair tyres unless the puncture is near to, or on the side wall

Any puncture in the tread can easily be plugged and repaired by a reputable company. Make sure the wheel is balanced afterwards.
Any sidewall puncture is less likely to be repairable. The lower down the sidewall the more likely you will need a new tyre. Be wary of pary worn tyres. Some may have had a sidewall repair and could be dangerous.
There are 4 things that keep you on the road and in full control of the car. My advice would be not to scrimp and beware of dealers pushing unknown makes that probably have a bigger profit margin.

Those next to shimla I would recommend - seemed to be a good price and decent people who will sort it quickly for you.

Sidewall punctures are non repairable.
Punctures can only be repaired across the middle half of the tyre generally, as due to the size of the patch.

Also depends on the size and angle of the puncture hole.

It could be as simple as a faulty valve.
