Most important game of the season?
Most important game of the season?
Honestly think we're going to be fine but the Fulham game is the difference between being 5pts or 11pts clear. Not often in a season you get break away from 17th so decisively. Winning practically gives us a two-game cockup to work with. Think this result will change the mood of the last part of the season, even though we're probably already safe. Just feels big, I don't know.

Go big or go home!
(Though it's Dyche, so yeah, a draw)

Re: Most important game of the season?
I'd say it's the biggest game so far, as it is the proverbial 6 pointer.
An 11 point gap might just finish Fulham off and ease all pressure on us.
A win for them will be back to nack wins ( which they have not yet done ) and then they face Sheff Utd on Saturday too. It could really be a springboard for them.
The important thing IMO is do not lose.
Like Brighton it might be a case of 2 tight teams making sure they do not lose.
1-1

I don't think there is any chance of Fulham going down. However, if they do stop up I do not think it will be at our expense.

Staggered Fulham are the favourites with some firms but happy about it.
After getting 29/10 at the weekend at Palace I am more than happy with 7/4 at home to Fulham

Not that it makes too much difference unless you're lumping on, but 15/8 on Betfair or 2.92 on the exchange.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 2:54 pmStaggered Fulham are the favourites with some firms but happy about it.

If we play like we did against Palace then we won’t have an issue

Re: Most important game of the season?
Yes, its important, but no more so than any other.
If we hadn't won at Anfield or beaten Villa recently, for example, we wouldn't have the points we currently have.
As stated above, not losing it is the important thing.

Re: Most important game of the season?
It is big, a win and we'll be virtually uncatchable, even a draw wouldn't be the end of the world for us, as long as we collect 3 points from West Brom, but if we could pick up 2 wins in the next 5 days then we can start making genuine preparations for life at this level next season, a Fulham win tomorrow, and then again on Saturday coupled with a defeat for us against West Brom would really put the cat among the pigeons, as they'd be only 2 points adrift, shows how quickly things can change in the worst case scenario, however I fully expect us to collect a minimum of 4 points from these 2 games, and that would take us to 30, now ideally if we only win one it'd be the Fulham game, because if we win that, then even if they beat Sheff Utd at the weekend, which isn't guaranteed BTW, then we'll likely still be 9 points ahead of them, which is a buffer zone we could do with considering our tough fixtures to come.

Re: Most important game of the season?
Only use betfair for horses really if it is silly value.
Had £50 at 29/10 at weekend and probably £80 on tomorrow, not much in it really after they take their commision

If you're putting £80 tjough, it will be £230 return from Betfair ( sportsbook ) no momossion , or £220 from 365
It's a free £10 weekend coupon if it wins.
Not that I'm promoting gambling or suggesting you bet on Saturday should or shouldn't you win tomorrow of course..

I prefer 365 as soon as you go 2 goals clear you've won, hence being paid out after 10 minutes SaturdayMACCA wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 3:28 pmYeah exchange is better for horses.

Re: Most important game of the season?
I think a draw is fine for us but not for Fulham, I think they will be targeting this as a must win, while for me at least it's not, I think just make sure you don't lose.

How's this turned into a betting thread :p
Anyway, don't lose is the important bit. But I hope we enter our positively. Expecting it to be very different than in the cup. Early goal would be lovely.

Draw is enough for us but not for them. I worry that Sean might play for the draw, particularly with Mee injured.
Hope we start positively and get a bit of luck.

We will smash Fulham all over the park.
4-0 written all over it.
On Saturday
For the first time in 3 years, the right hand side of our side was better than the left. Great signs.

Most important game of the season? - Yes it's important (as all our games are) but there'll still be 42 points to play for after this game.

Re: Most important game of the season?
There will be that's true, however if we can get the 3 points tomorrow it'll give us a huge boost, and psychologically could really damage Fulham, certainly as regards them chasing us down anyway.
Now of course we could lose the next 2 and still stay up, but it'll make the task an awful lot of easier if we can gain points, and at the same time inflict pain on our rivals, hence why these games are the archetypal 6 pointers to coin a well known cliché.
Re: Most important game of the season?
Agree that getting the 3 points would be great but whether we do or don't won't make it the most important game of the season, Imo.tiger76 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 7:44 pmThere will be that's true, however if we can get the 3 points tomorrow it'll give us a huge boost, and psychologically could really damage Fulham, certainly as regards them chasing us down anyway.

Fulham never win here.
So much so, that last time they played here we beat them 2-1 without having a shot on target.

Re: Most important game of the season?
Fulham never win at Goodison but they did so at the weekend so we can forget that one .
They are unbeaten away from home this year and if you take City out of the equation only a last minute goal at Wolves prevents them being unbeaten away from home going back some months.
Teams struggle to score against them on their travels so they must come into the game with confidence.
Another Palace performance should see us through but with Maja coming off the back of a brace and Mee out I will be happy with not getting beat

Re: Most important game of the season?
The most important game of our season was the one we threw away to Bournemouth. This is just another league game against a very poor side. The result of this is just being exaggerated because we have nothing left of our season unless we implode in a way we never have. We’re bound for mid table.

Re: Most important game of the season?
I know you think we'll finish comfortably mid-table, and I tend to agree, and if we do then we may well regret not fielding a stronger XI in the Bournemouth cup tie, we are unlikely to get such a golden chance to reach the semi-finals for many moons, and this would have generated excitement that a standard PL game simply can't, yes we might have sustained injuries in the cup tie, but lo and behold we instead sustained 2 injuries in the Palace game instead, we shouldn't get dragged into trouble unless we completely blow up, and TBH a win tomorrow pretty much secures our PL status for another season, and then we'll face the prospect of just playing out the season effectively, and trying to finish as high as possible, I know the higher we finish the more prize money we receive, but I'd have gladly swapped 2/3 league places for a crack at trying to win a major trophy, would we have gone all the way probably not, but it would have been fun to see us at least give it a go in the circumstances.houseboy wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 9:26 pmThe most important game of our season was the one we threw away to Bournemouth. I’ve seen plenty of insulting odds on Burnley down the years but that is f***ing ridiculous.
I don’t like betting on Burnley, but a dispassionate punter could surely make some serious money betting on our games.

Gotta be the Villa away game just before Christmas. Had we either won or lost that game the season would have been very different indeed

However Ben Mee is out, and that means both centre back positions are shuffled.
