Godisadj : By raising it here what good will it do ? Nothing, do you want to help ? Go help on the correct platform and to a more suitable audience for your concern.
If you don’t then don’t cry about the mixed replies you shall receive on a football forum.
Your just attention seeking by using McLean as a tool for your perverted boredom.
Your sad and should be ashamed of your self
Define correct platform, or shall I make it easier for you and assume you mean anywhere but here where football fans talk?

I haven't cried about anything tbh, it's you who's whinged far more than me, proper little tantrum going on haven't you?
You OK hun?

Attention seeking or raising awareness?
I suppose it depends on how you feel about the issue and clearly we have polar opposite views.

I'm not sad, nor ashamed of myself because I've done nothing to make myself sad or to be ashamed of.

Hummmmm hard one this i must say .
Jamesy has always been a hero in the South with football fans for his stand with Poppygate ( best way to put it ) he worte the reasons why he would not wear one while at Wigan as Pearcey said above " incdedibly complex " is a very good way to put it as you to remember where in Derry he is from and people only see it from one side of the coin .
I was abused yesterday on an Irish Football forum as i said he has made mistakes again and again on soical media which i think he has to be honest as he keeps getting drawn back into it again .
This will blow over when he retires but his views will always remain the same .

If your child was being bullied on line, what’s one of the first things you would say to them?
Mine would be ‘right come off line’. Pretty simple tbh
I'd say to my kids?
Tell them to block the account doing it and then contact the relevant people to get it dealt with.

Well that's one way of stopping abuse: if you're being abused, delete your account.

Maybe we could stop shoplifting by simply closing all the shops.
If you're receiving online abuse and it's affecting your day to day life, I'd recommend deleting your social media account.

That doesn't solve the problem though.

I was taught to face bullies head on and I taught my kids the same.

Deleting social media because of a horrible minority isn't the right way to go about it, because they then see it as a victory and feel justified in their actions.

My boy's only 4 so I've not had to cross that bridge yet but taking something from him when he is the victim doesn't seem the right thing to do.

If it happened in "the real world" such as at a football club, I don't think I'd take him out of the club, I'd get the club to deal with it.
It might not seem the right thing to do until it happens (actually fingers crossed it doesn’t)

That’s a stereotypical comment against some one you consider to be homophobic. Your a disgrace

Discussions are fine. Your posting a view however and deliberately creating arguments.

I’m through with this thread, oh and you asked where you called me a homosexual, “hun” is derogatory in more ways than one and you chose to use that word.

Like I say I’m done with this post and any future posts of yours where your deliberately causing problems to cure boredom.

I created a discussion which is being objected to vehemently.

As for your interpretation of the word hun, you're wrong.

I don't see Nemanja Matic getting stick over his refusal to wear a poppy though..

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46099843

The logic is if you're here working, a poppy should be worn... Yet he never gets a mention or any abuse.
In fairness to Matic he’s not supporting a faith/movement that we’ve previously been at war with .( I wouldn’t wear one either, over my dead body if I was JM ) That said it is indeed ridiculous in the extreme that a few idiotic morons on the Twitter cesspit choose to spew their bile. Though JM is currently talking about an incident in 2012 which I presume had dug up this forum mainstay

He's mentioned it because he's still getting daily abuse and his wife went on social media to vent her despair and frustration about it, especially as they've got 3 kids.

Social media is different though, it's not real life, people say things they wouldn't say in real life. McClean should know what to expect, I'm surprised if it bothers him what Twitter trolls have got to say.

That was in 2012 where he states he didn't really believe he was in danger.

You keep saying it's football fans but the articles I have read don't point to football fans. Just people on Twitter.

empty death threats from random people online, nothing to worry about and if it is, delete your profile so you don't need to read it again.

As much as I doubt whether many twitter death threats carries an actual threat, you can't guarantee there isn't one nutter willing to cause harm.

But if you think the solution is to let abusers and bullies win, it raises a few questions about you.

No, more the fact it wouldn't bother me in the slightest. The word bully is a bit strong for online trolls and probably raises a few questions about your snowflake tendencies.

Footballers homes and families are targeted regularly in this country.

Apart from that, I completely understand why you'd give in to online threats/trolls/bullies etc...
