Its good news of course, for its obviously going to be next season at the earliest that fans are going to get back in stadiums and then only in a limited way.

And it's gonna be a long time till we're all "shoulder to shoulder."

I take it the Euros are going to be played behind closed doors then?

I also wonder if they'll need to be moved to one country rather than having teams flying back and forth across Europe for large parts of it.

If things don't improve considerably by April, not just in the UK but the whole of Europe, there is no chance the Euros will happen.

English club sides have had to have their games in Europe this week moved to neutral venues due to the new COVID variants. No chance currently a European wide tournament will take place.

Statement from Premier League

https://www.uptheclarets.com/televising ... o-continue
It is worded cleverly the statement, so is fans being allowed back referring to the 2,000 or so at a game we saw earlier in the season, or grounds fully open to a full capacity.

If once a small number of fans can return to the stadium means all games will no longer be live this will leave a lot of fans, myself included, missing out.

In the current climate that looks the most likely option, maybe some type of bubble environment, as other sports have been implementing in recent months, it certainly doesn't look a feasible option to hold a Europe wide tournament encompassing multiple venues that's for sure.

Where in Europe that could be done is a difficult question, as regards infrastructure only France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK have the stadiums and financial might to be able to hold a safe and secure competition, although if it's going to be held behind closed doors this might not as much of an issue.

I do think they'll try and get it played if at all possible, mainly due to the money that would be lost if it was postponed again.

Decent chance of the whole tournament being in one country...and with the UK being ahead on vaccines, we've got a good chance. Very much doubt they'll have fans in. Different scale obviously and all already in the country, but they had fans for the Club World Cup in Qatar. You got a covid test as part of the ticket price...and could only use it if you tested negative.
Getting a test privately was £100...so it was much cheaper buying a football ticket...even if you didn't want to go on the game...

I believe they will screen them until we can fill the grounds again although the statement doesn't say that. I'll do some checking with people.

Not complaining, but can say now, I've never, ever seen so many games so far, this season.
Square eyes in the making. :)

Think and hope you will be wrong. I expect we will have big crowds back by autumn.

How much money are we getting from most of the games being on live compared to the normal 12 or so?

Your concerns have been picked up by the working group at the FSA who think all will be fine but will remain vigilant.

It's fine that they're all televised, but there are too many platforms, and it costs too much to have all the games covered.

Can't see the Euros being played. Ridiculous idea I know but it would be a good idea for UEFA to cancel them and then extend the domestic seasons to avoid the freenzy which is leading to a high rate of injuries. Yes, I know, crazy idea.

Personally think all non domestic games should be suspended until normality resumes.

UEFA are to make a decision in March regarding the Euros. If it isn't possible to hold them as planned then they may decide to hold them in just one country and play the games in empty stadiums. They might also decide not to hold the competition.

This information was published on the FA website a few weeks ago.
